This position reports to the CEO who is a dynamic, thoughtful, collaborative executive.

The company is seeking a dynamic, passionate VP Sales with strong ambition to immediately and significantly impact a growth company with a large market opportunity. The VP Sales will be a key member of the executive team and help drive overall company vision and strategy. As a key member of the senior management team, he/she must demonstrate the sales vision necessary to grow the business exponentially. The VP Sales will report to the CEO working together in partnership. The ideal candidate will be an intelligent, analytical, creative thinker with a record of success in building and managing sales teams. The VPs’ charter is, first and foremost, to develop sales strategy to achieve longer-term corporate objectives, and oversee a sales organization to implement that strategy. In parallel, the VP Sales will close sales and bring in revenue and key customers. The VP Sales will lead, by hands-on example when necessary, the company’s direct sales success.

As the VP Sales in a dynamic growth company, this executive must thrive in and have the passion for success in an entrepreneurial environment. The candidate needs to hit the ground running.

The VP Sales must play both hands-on execution and leadership roles by leading a team and when necessary personally carrying sales responsibilities as needed. The VP Sales must be willing to roll up his/her sleeves and actively help drive their team to close deals. The successful candidate enjoys putting it on the line and being accountable for success. He/she is a driver and dealmaker who makes success happen and is motivated by it.

The VP Sales will develop process and planning for ensuring effective sales channels development, including planning and forecasting tools, customer targets and measures. Additionally, the VP Sales will prepare, monitor, and update budgets for the sales organization.

Required Experience & Skills:

  • Independent self-starter with experience selling in a startup-like environment with double digit growth; needs to catapult initial sales momentum, while developing scalable processes for the sales organization.
  • Must be able to attract, manage and retain high potential sales organization - has the ability to motivate, coach, drive and closely manage the sales team to maximize productivity of the sales team.
  • Experience selling new solutions to existing/old problems. Possess both consultative selling and effective missionary selling skills. Owns a history of top performance selling to a “status quo” market.
  • Has a track record of success at every stage and a desire to build something big, to prove himself/herself again, and to leave his/her mark. Experienced high level sales manager, one who has hired, developed and led sales teams, ideally at more than one business.
  • Develop and implement a measurable Sales & ROI strategy and budget. Has experience with online analytics. Experience developing and articulating sales strategy, markets, verticals, channels, and the consideration behind it.
  • Experience selling complex b2b software applications and solutions with an inside sales model. Having sold a hosted subscription model is required.
  • Metric driven marketing, sales, strategy, and management style. Experience with state of the art sales tools and resources.
  • Experience selling into an extremely competitive market where the pain of switching is high.
  • Experience building and managing an outbound sales team.

Work History and Skills:

  • Experience selling a new product/service resulting in the generation of significant revenue, ideally in a growth environment.
  • Experience growing, leading and managing an inside sales organization in the software industry.
  • A minimum of 10 years experience assuming a leading role in sales.
  • Excellent communication skills; written, verbal, negotiation and presentation.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of business and technical management, including Presidential/CEO level.
  • Experienced in startup, high growth environments.
  • Aggressive and result oriented, with relationship building abilities.
  • Ability to establish a clear direction without micromanaging. Leads by example.
  • Strong technical appreciation.
  • Maintain a high level of integrity and exude a professional image.
