GoGuardian is looking for a Senior Government Account Manager to identify, manage, and grow relationships at the state and federal levels with the goal of market expansion and national brand cultivation. The responsibilities include accelerating revenue generation by identifying new market opportunities and expanding contracts at the state level, as well as setting priorities and urgency regarding state legislation. The Senior Government Account Manager will develop and execute policy advocacy strategy and develop and maintain relationships with key elected officials in order to increase visibility and position GoGuardian as an influential resource and thought leader. The ideal candidate will have a growth mindset, attention to detail, a desire to collaborate, and an ability to align teams with rigor. Additionally, strong interpersonal skills and cross-functional collaboration with marketing, sales, legal, research, partnerships, and operations will be a cornerstone to success.

What You'll Do

  • Become an expert in government affairs and best practices and develop strategies to drive additional revenue through state level engagement
  • Manage all state level consulting engagements and relationships
  • Build the framework for successfully tracking and managing state level decisions
  • Get a complete and ongoing landscape assessment of the states aligned to your territory
  • Research, track, and maintain all current state contracts and timelines in SFDC
  • Track policy or legislation via Fiscal Note or related software to help inform corporate strategy
  • Project manage state outreach and sales process
  • Develop GoGuardian’s policy strategy and help catalyze resources to support initiatives
  • Communicate and advocate GoGuardian priorities to local, regional, state and national elected officials
  • Become fluent in the state superintendent and governor personas and align the organization to their needs
  • Develops materials to support of GoGuardian’s government relations agenda, such as talking points, legislative summaries, factsheets, testimony, reports, and letters
  • Train internal and external stakeholders on GoGuardian policy advocacy
  • Develop, nurture and expand relationships with key state policymakers, elected and appointed officials and nonprofits aligned with GoGuardian advocacy agenda
  • Conduct research and monitor legislation. Track happenings within the government that could affect the organization. Proactively, they research policies to see what changes could be advantageous and which trends might negatively impact their company in the future
  • Lead the development and implementation of legislative and political action plans, including member activism and engagement strategies

Who You Are

  • Bachelor’s degree in political science, communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred
  • At least five years experience in the field of partnerships, governmental relations or a related field
  • Experience in a managerial/supervisory role or related role
  • Knowledge of and ability to lead the development and implementation of comprehensive legislative and political strategy, and related objectives, processes, and plans
  • Knowledge of and ability to develop and maintain productive relationships and partnerships with elected federal and state leaders, state administrative department executives, political party chairs and their staffs
  • Knowledge of and ability to build partnerships and interact with external agencies and coalitions for the purpose of increasing the awareness of GoGuardian
  • Demonstrate high-level interpersonal and communication (both oral and written) skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively on cross-functional and diverse teams (internal and external) on complex issues
  • Ability to effectively engage and manage staff
  • Position requires occasional in-state and out-of-state travel to carry out essential functions.
