Job description

The Program Manager, Engineering Services is the primary point of contact for Exodigo's largest engineering-services clients and owns their success end to end: delivery quality, client satisfaction and commercial growth. You will lead multidisciplinary teams delivering utility design and subsurface engineering scopes, keep contracts on schedule and on margin, and turn strong delivery into follow-on work.

This is a true seller-doer role that sits between delivery and growth. You run the work, you own the relationship, and you help win what comes next.

What You'll Do

Own the client relationship

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Exodigo's largest engineering-services clients, from contract award through closeout and renewal.
  • Own client satisfaction: set expectations, report status, resolve issues quickly and escalate early on scope, schedule or budget risk.
  • Build multi-threaded relationships across owner and prime-consultant organizations, from project engineers to program directors.
  • Lead regular project and business reviews covering performance, outcomes and value delivered.
  • Act as a trusted advisor on engineering design processes, adoption of AI technologies, and management of project risk.

Deliver engineering-services contracts

  • Take overall accountability for the quality of engineering-services deliverables, including utility design, conflict analysis and subsurface utility engineering scopes.
  • Establish the work plan, fee estimate, schedule and staffing for each phase, and lead the kickoff with client stakeholders.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams of engineers, designers,  and data specialists to produce on-time, on-budget deliverables.
  • Confirm deliverables meet client, agency and industry standards at conceptual and final design levels.
  • Drive the QA/QC plan, assign qualified technical reviewers and ensure sealed or certified deliverables meet professional standards.
  • Manage subconsultants and teaming partners against scope, schedule, quality and contract requirements.

Control scope, schedule and margin

  • Own project budgets, forecasts, margins and KPIs; track hours, expenses and earned value.
  • Maintain the project management plan, risk register, decision log and change documentation.
  • Identify scope changes early and manage change requests and contract amendments with the client.
  • Lead recovery planning on troubled projects and run lessons-learned at closeout.

Win future work with key clients

  • Join pursuit teams for future work with key clients, contributing to go/no-go decisions, win strategy, pricing and risk reviews.
  • Lead or support technical approach, staffing and scope sections of proposals, and present in interviews.
  • Track upcoming client programs, solicitations and contract vehicles (IDIQ, on-call, task-order and design-build teaming).

Grow key accounts

  • Own commercial growth of assigned key accounts, with targets for retention, expansion and follow-on contract value.
  • Build and execute account plans aligned to each client's capital program, project pipeline and digital-delivery goals.
  • Identify expansion opportunities: new task orders, additional programs and divisions, and cross-sell of Exodigo mapping and digital-twin services.
  • Partner with Sales on handoffs into long-term account ownership and on new opportunities you surface.
  • Keep CRM records current for account health, pipeline and forecast.

Lead and collaborate

  • Mentor and develop project staff; provide performance input to their managers.
  • Work with Engineering, Operations, Product and Sales to deliver a seamless client experience.
  • Feed client insight back into Exodigo's service offerings, AI-assisted design tools and product roadmap.
  • Represent Exodigo at client meetings, industry events and professional organizations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Electrical or a related engineering discipline.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in at least one US state, with the ability to obtain comity licenses as needed.
  • 10+ years of engineering experience, including 5+ years managing design or engineering-services contracts for clients.
  • Public-sector client experience (state DOTs, transit agencies, airports, public utilities or municipalities) is required.
  • Proven record of growing and retaining large, complex client accounts, with follow-on work you helped win.
  • Working knowledge of utility design and coordination, and of subsurface utility engineering.
  • Strong command of project controls: work plans, fee estimates, budgets, schedules, earned value, change management and risk registers.
  • Experience preparing proposals and presenting in client interviews.
  • Understanding of public-sector procurement and contract types, including QBS, IDIQ / on-call, task-order and design-build delivery.
  • Clear, persuasive written and verbal communication with technical and executive audiences.
  • Ability to travel up to 40% and work effectively in a remote, high-growth environment.

Preferred

  • Master's degree in Engineering.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP), DBIA or CCM certification.
  • Experience in transportation, rail, aviation, power or water infrastructure programs.
  • Experience with Design-Build, Progressive Design-Build or alliance delivery, including bridging documents.
  • Experience working for or teaming with large AEC/EPC firms as prime or subconsultant.
  • Familiarity with geophysical methods (GPR, EM, magnetics) and ASCE 75 utility as-built data standards.
  • Proficiency with design and BIM tools (MicroStation/OpenRoads, Civil 3D, Revit) and digital-delivery workflows.
  • Interest in applying AI-assisted design to engineering production.
  • Active involvement in professional organizations (ASCE, ACEC, ARTBA, APTA, ACI-NA or similar).

Key strengths

  • Ownership: you take full accountability for delivery quality and account outcomes.
  • Trusted advisor: clients call you first when a project gets hard.
  • Commercial instinct: you see the next contract inside the current one.
  • Builder: you thrive where processes are still being written.

Compensation - We offer a highly competitive, above-market total compensation package

  • Base: $156,000 - $192,000
  • OTE: $260,000 - $320,000

Location: Miami, FL or Seattle, WA (or easily accessible to)

Ability to travel up to 30%

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
