Risk Manager
Risk Managers at Capital One are the front line of defense to ensure our Company remains stable and profitable. Risk Managers at Capital One are highly motivated Risk Management professionals with excellent organizational and communication skills. They have a high level of exposure across lines of business and have the opportunity to work with Executives to create and implement innovative solutions to identify and mitigate potential risks to the Company.
As part of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), you will work with talented associates to ensure our businesses effectively adhere to Capital One's Risk Management Framework. This role is at the heart of our modernization efforts as we transform our processes to become more nimble and effective. You will focus on strategic improvements to the foundational elements of our Risk Identification Framework.
We are currently seeking a strategic, forward-leaning, and results driven professional with outstanding problem solving skills to join the ERM team. This individual should feel comfortable navigating through the "grey" area and formulating problems and recommendations. Strong communication and storytelling capabilities are essential for this role.
Responsibilities:
  • Optimize and enhance foundational elements of the Risk Identification Framework, aligning capabilities with broader strategic objectives and transformation efforts
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives to simplify and standardize Risk Identification processes
  • Leverage data analysis and operational insights to identify core problems and formulate effective solutions
  • Collaborate with 1st Line and 2nd Line stakeholders to align strategies and ensure consistent execution across business lines
  • Partner with technology, product, and data teams to implement required system and process updates
  • Design and implement risk metrics to measure framework effectiveness and process health
  • Lead training across lines of defense to ensure consistent adoption and execution
  • Establish and manage guidance to ensure consistent execution across business lines
  • Deliver reporting and executive-level presentations that provide leadership with real-time risk visibility
  • Fulfill audit and regulatory exam requests, and other ad-hoc deliverables
  • Support general governance activities, including controls, and issues

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree or military experience
  • At least 5 years of experience in Risk Management, Audit, Project Management, or Process Management
  • At least 5 years of experience supporting, partnering and interacting with internal business partners

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 6+ years of Risk Management experience
  • 3+ years of Financial Services Risk Management experience
  • Ability to set direction, manage expectations and lead cross-functional projects

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
McLean, VA: $151,900 - $173,400 for Risk Manager
Richmond, VA: $138,100 - $157,700 for Risk Manager
Riverwoods, IL: $138,100 - $157,700 for Risk Manager
Anytown, IL: $138,100 - $157,700 for Risk Manager
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
