Job Summary:

Project Manager - Engineering

As the Project Manager, you will utilize your excellent communication skills to manage custom steel door assembly jobs, serving as the customer’s primary point of contact throughout the project execution phase. You will oversee a wide range of highly specialized products, including acoustic, RF, bullet, blast, forced entry, and hurricane doors. While primarily responsible for a specific territory or region, you will also act as a collaborative team player, backing up peers and assisting in the training of Assistant Project Managers. You will work closely with CAD design engineers to deliver submittals, revisions, and manufacturing releases that exceed customer expectations.

  

What You Will Do:

  • End-to-End Project Control: Manage the entire lifecycle of each project once the contract is awarded.

  • Engineering Coordination: Direct engineering schedules and prioritize projects for the resubmittal of customer-facing documents. Collaborate with and direct CAD design engineers to deliver required engineering documentation.

  • Customer Relationship Management: Respond to customer requests for changes and information in a timely manner. Coordinate cross-functional resolution calls and escalate issues when necessary to maintain excellent relationships.

  • Revenue & Change Management: Receive, interpret, and communicate revisions or requests for change with internal teams and the client. Control potential change orders to capture maximum revenue and generate additional revenue by identifying expedite opportunities.

  • Communication & Logistics: Notify customers of any schedule impacts (both in and out of our control), coordinate shipment releases with customers and the logistics group, and lead large-scale kick-off meetings with key stakeholders to ensure the smooth execution of highly complex jobs.

  • Financial Tracking: Collect and reconcile any prepayments and deposits required up to the time of the final invoice.

What You Need to Succeed:

  • Experience: A minimum of three (3) years of project management experience in a related steel door/frame, manufacturing, construction, or similar environment.

  • High School or GED Diploma required

  • Project Management Skills: Proven track record in scheduling and managing multiple competing projects/jobs with lifecycles ranging from several weeks to several months.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Ability to work seamlessly across departments to deliver projects on time and to the customers' exact expectations.

  • Attention to Detail: Carefully monitors processes, organizes systems of records, and ensures accuracy in documentation and data.

  • Communication and Influence: Listens with objectivity, checks for understanding, and effectively transfers thoughts and ideas to influence others or gain their support.

  • Conflict Management: Uses active listening techniques to reduce conflict. Stays objective and fair in assessing different points of view.

  • Interpersonal Skills: Builds and maintains trusting relationships with associates and customers. Demonstrates a direct and diplomatic approach in dealing with others.

  • Adaptability / Flexibility: Quickly adjusts to new, different, or changing requirements and maintains composure under pressure.

  • Analytical Skills: Identifies and defines problems, determines probable causes, suggests solutions, and is skilled at recognizing connections and links.

  • Decisiveness / Judgment: Demonstrates logic, rationality, and objectivity in decision-making. Analyzes alternate solutions and potential outcomes.

  • Accountability: Holds self, others, and other departments accountable for results. Is persistent and follows through on commitments.

  • Negotiating / Selling: Accurately and effectively identifies customer needs; displays knowledge of relevant products, services, and processes to develop solutions.

  • Ownership: Takes ownership of work and responsibility for results, whether positive or negative.

Compensation: This range is provided by Allegion. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience.

  • The expected Base Salary Range: $65,000 - $80,000.  The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.

  • This is a salaried, non‑exempt position and is eligible for overtime in accordance with applicable federal and state law.
