Role Description:

We’re hiring a Founding Marketer to be Valdera’s first dedicated marketing hire. You’ll drive how we position and sell our product to the market, shaping the narrative, enabling the sales team, and making sure our messaging resonates.

As our first marketing hire, this role goes well beyond traditional product marketing role. You’ll be the person who builds our positioning and competitive strategy, but you’ll also roll up your sleeves on content, events, and demand generation. Some weeks you’ll be refining a pitch deck and drafting new social posts; other weeks you’ll be coordinating a conference booth or writing a blog post. That’s the nature of being the first marketer at a startup, and we’re looking for someone who’s energized by that breadth.

You’ll report to the Chief of Staff and work closely with sales leadership and the product team. This is a high-impact, high-ownership role where your work will have a direct line to revenue and company growth.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Own Product Positioning & Messaging: Define how Valdera talks about its product to the market. You'll develop and refine our positioning across buyer personas and market segments, ensuring every touchpoint tells a clear, compelling story.
  • Drive Go-to-Market for New Releases: Lead the strategy and execution for product launches and major feature releases, including drafting launch emails, coordinating cross-functionally, and ensuring sales has everything they need to sell.
  • Build the Sales Toolkit: Create and maintain the collateral that arms our sales team — pitch decks, one-pagers, battle cards, product guides, case studies, and customer testimonials. You'll coordinate directly with customers to develop the proof points that win deals.
  • Run Our Event & Conference Presence: Own end-to-end planning and execution for trade shows and conferences, from booth design and swag to customer dinners and on-site logistics. You'll build pre-event attendee lists and coordinate with sales to target the right accounts.
  • Produce Content: Own Valdera's LinkedIn presence, write and coordinate writers for blog posts and thought leadership content, and work with agencies and freelancers to produce webinars, videos, and whitepapers. Keep our website current and aligned with our positioning.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • 3–5 years of professional experience in product marketing, management consulting, or a high-output generalist role at a fast-paced company — we care about sharp thinking, strong writing, and the drive to figure things out

  • Strong strategic thinker; able to build a marketing strategy framework from the ground up and execute on it

  • Excellent writing skills with experience producing sales collateral, website content, and/or customer-facing messaging

  • Strong project management skills and the ability to context-switch between strategic and tactical work throughout the day

  • Experience managing event logistics and owning them end to end and willingness to travel to attend conferences and events as needed

  • You thrive in ambiguity and are excited by the idea of being the first hire to build the function

  • B2B SaaS, technology, procurement, and/or chemical experience is a plus but not required

Salary Range:

Salary ranges are determined by multiple factors, including the labor market, market compensation bands, internal parity, and budget considerations. The final offer will be based on the candidate’s individual skills, qualifications, location, and experience relative to the requirements of the role.

Benefits:

Valdera offers generous benefits to employees. Full time employees are eligible for premium healthcare, dental, and vision insurance coverage. You will be provided a more detailed breakdown of your options prior to joining Valdera.

Equal Opportunity Employer Statement:

Valdera is an equal-opportunity employer committed to building a diverse and inclusive team. We are dedicated to maintaining a workplace free from discrimination, where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered to contribute.

Please note that Valdera uses E-Verify to confirm the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
