Backblaze is the object storage leader in the open cloud movement, fueling customer success with cloud storage built purposefully to unlock budgets, unburden administrators, and unleash innovators. Together with our partners, we’re helping customers break free from the restrictive, overpriced legacy solutions that hold them back, and blaze forward with the full power of the open cloud in their hands.

Founded in 2007, we scaled the business with less than $3 million in outside funding until 2021, when we did a traditional IPO on the Nasdaq stock exchange. Today, Backblaze generates over $100m in revenue and is the leading specialized storage cloud - managing over three billion gigabytes of data storage for 500K+ customers in 175+ countries, including businesses, developers, IT professionals, and individuals.
But while there is a lot to celebrate in our past, there is almost as much opportunity ahead of us. We are seeking a Product Marketing Manager - Application & AI Storage!

About The Role:

You’ll lead positioning and go-to-market for Backblaze’s AI & application storage solutions. You'll architect how we speak to the executives and innovators accelerating AI/ML training & LLMs, cloud-native apps, and data lakes. You’ll orchestrate messaging and programs that engage technical decision-makers and influencers—helping them tap into object storage performance with cost savings and GPU flexibility. You’ll collaborate with teammates across Marketing, Sales, Partnerships, and Product Management to define and execute strategies that move the needle on awareness, pipeline and revenue.

What You'll Do:

  • Develop compelling end user positioning & messaging of joint solutions, informed by strategy, market insights and customer research, understanding of our products, and fluency in AI/ML workloads and cloud-native / ISV business models
  • Help define strategy for select customer targets based on win/loss analysis, refinement of personas and ICPs, and deep understanding of solution areas and customer journeys
  • Drive go-to-market planning and execution—working cross-functionally to launch, promote, and optimize campaigns
  • Deliver compelling customer-facing assets, incl. web pages, blogs, webinars, emails, videos, event content, and more
  • Own strategy and execution for physical and virtual events, such as NVIDIA GTC, Supercomputing, and webinars, ensuring strong GTM delivery to resonate with target audiences and achieve initiative goals
  • Build and evolve personas, ideal customer profiles (ICPs), and solution narratives based on real-world use cases and outcomes
  • Enable customer-facing teams with talking points and other materials for the products under you, and support Sales and Partner Marketing colleagues on key co-marketing initiatives
  • Manage marketing campaign spending to deliver on ROI targets within budget

The Right Fit:

  • 5+ years in technology marketing, incl. 3+ years in product marketing or go-to-market ownership
  • Experience marketing to AI, ML, and/or cloud-native audiences–with familiarity for technical personas and their buying journeys
  • Strong understanding of AI infrastructure including NVIDIA GPU clusters and generative models
  • Proven track record of crafting compelling narratives and executing programs that move pipeline and revenue
  • Analytical mindset—you know how to use data to shape decisions and refine direction
  • Excellent writing, storytelling, and presentation skills—including ability to translate complex technical concepts into accessible and engaging messaging
  • A proactive, collaborative approach—you know how to lead cross-functional teams and make things happen
  • You’re using AI as you explore opportunities like this one, while also overlaying your human smarts & sensibilities for best-of-all-worlds results

Backblaze Perks:

  • Healthcare for family, including dental and vision
  • Competitive compensation and 401K
  • RSU grants for full-time employees
  • ESPP program
  • Flexible vacation policy

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
