The Private Sector Growth Leader is a highly influential leadership opportunity to shape the direction and growth of our private sector business. The leader in this role will establish the strategy and partnerships necessary to expand our environmental and water engineering services, strengthen our market presence, and drive sustainable revenue growth within the vision of the private sector business unit. Their leadership will directly impact the organization's opportunity to deliver meaningful environmental outcomes while advancing long-term business success. The Private Sector Growth Leader will represent the Private Sector Business Unit at the company level as a member of the corporate Growth and marketing teams. 

The Private Sector Growth Leader is a senior leadership role responsible for driving strategic growth across multiple designated areas or markets within the Business Unit. This position will drive business and sales planning to achieve sustainable revenue and profit growth across the Business Unit. The Business Unit Growth position leads the development and implementation of the Business Unit’s Strategic Growth Plan and Client Growth Business Plans that foster and maintain strong client relationships across the organization’s portfolio and drives the strategic growth initiatives and investments for the Business Unit. This role accountable for achieving key performance metrics and ensuring alignment of Business Unit strategies with overall organizational objectives.    

  

Responsibilities  

  • Lead and develop strategic growth planning across the Business Unit, including multiple areas or markets areas and ensure alignment of strategies with overall  organizational objectives.  
  • Develop and implement business and sales plans across the Business Unit to drive sustainable revenue and profit growth.  
  • Lead and drive the Business Unit Growth teams, comprised of key members of Area Growth teams, to achieve key performance metrics.  
  • Act as a client-focused Sales Leader or Senior Reviewer to drive success on top sales opportunities.  
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop Business Unit sales goals, BD budgets, and profitability targets; drive and support the development of Business Unit, Area, and Client-Level plans to achieve metrics.   
  • Lead comprehensive market analysis to understand market trends and growth opportunities.   
  • Drive connectivity between practice leaders, local group leaders, and CSMs. 
  • Work with BU leaders to implement succession planning and development of CSMs.  
  • Lead, develop, and coach a high-performing client service teams by setting clear expectations, providing feedback, and fostering a culture of engagement, growth, and accountability.  
  • Work with the Business Unit Leadership Team to align resources to key investments, clients, and pursuits while ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations.  
  • Play an active role in new and ongoing pursuits and campaigns, serving as executive sponsor and pursuit leader in select cases. 
  • Oversee workload planning, performance management, and team operations to align resources with business objectives while ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations.  
  • Flexibility to adapt and execute various additional assignments based on evolving needs.  
  • Provide oversight and direction to client service managers within the Business Unit.  

 

Skills and Competencies  

  • Advanced leadership skills together with proven ability to lead and inspire high-performing, cross-functional teams through influence.  
  • Advanced strategic planning skills and a track record of successful execution of plans.  
  • Exceptional business acumen and highly experienced in developing sales and pursuit strategies   
  • Ability to strategically identify and cultivate new client relationships, drives sustainable revenue growth and ensuring high client satisfaction across multiple areas.  
  • Excellent knowledge of and presence in key markets in the business unit. 
  • Ability to be decisive in decision-making – comfortable handling risk and uncertainty.  
  • Advanced understanding of market drivers that impact growth and strategy  
  • Advanced ability to interpret data to drive business strategy.  

 

Experience  

  • Typically requires a minimum of 20 years of sales leadership or related experience.   
  • Experience developing sales and pursuit strategies.  
  • Experience leading large sales growth teams and driving client relationships.  
  • A proven track record in the achievement of business objectives and strategic goals.  

 

Education  

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Engineering or a related Business or Technical field is required.  

 

Preferred Skills and Experience 

  • Demonstrated success leading the growth of environmental and water engineering businesses, including developing and executing market strategies, expanding service offerings, and driving sustained revenue growth across private sector markets. 
  • 10 years of sales leadership in the environmental and water engineering markets for private sector clients.   

 

Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee’s primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education.  These ranges may be modified in the future.   

Location A: $196,000 - $244,000
Location B: $216,000 - $268,000
Location C: $235,000 - $293,000
