About Faire

Faire is an online wholesale marketplace built on the belief that the future is local — independent retailers around the globe are doing more revenue than Walmart and Amazon combined, but individually, they are small compared to these massive entities. At Faire, we're using the power of tech, data, and machine learning to connect this thriving community of entrepreneurs across the globe. Picture your favorite boutique in town — we help them discover the best products from around the world to sell in their stores. With the right tools and insights, we believe that we can level the playing field so that small businesses everywhere can compete with these big box and e-commerce giants.

By supporting the growth of independent businesses, Faire is driving positive economic impact in local communities, globally. We’re looking for smart, resourceful and passionate people to join us as we power the shop local movement. If you believe in community, come join ours.

About this role

We are seeking a highly motivated and versatile People Operations Generalist to support and enhance a wide range of HR programs. In this role, you’ll be a go-to resource for employees and managers, handling day-to-day HR operations, contributing to key initiatives, and ensuring a positive employee experience across the organization. You’ll partner closely with Payroll, HR Business Partners (HRBPs), and leaders to drive operational excellence in areas such as onboarding, benefits, employee relations, HR compliance, and people programs. The ideal candidate will have a strategic mindset and be passionate about creating world-class programs that support our global workforce.

What you’ll do

  • Serve as a first point of contact for employee questions, providing clear, timely, and accurate guidance on HR policies, programs, and procedures.
  • Partner with HRBPs, Payroll, and managers to support the smooth execution of HR processes, including leaves of absences, benefits administration, accommodations, and policy updates.
  • Support employee relations activities by gathering information, documenting processes, and helping resolve employee concerns with professionalism and discretion.
  • Assist with leave of absence and accommodation requests, ensuring processes are handled compliantly and with empathy.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable labor laws and regulations, and maintain accurate employee records.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements that enhance efficiency and employee satisfaction.
  • Stay current on employment law changes, industry best practices, and HR trends to help evolve our people programs.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of HR experience, with broad exposure to multiple functional areas (e.g., onboarding, benefits, employee relations, HR compliance, HR systems).
  • Experience collaborating with HR, Payroll, and leadership teams.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement policies supporting global workforce needs.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience managing vendors and external service providers.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Cultural awareness and adaptability for working across regions.

Salary Range

San Francisco: the pay range for this role is $110,500 to $152,000 per year.

Effective January 2025, Faire employees will be expected to go into the office 2 days per week on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Additionally, hybrid in-office roles will have the flexibility to work remotely up to 4 weeks per year. Specific Workplace and Information Technology positions may require onsite attendance 5 days per week as will be indicated in the job posting.
Applications for this position will be accepted for a minimum of 30 days from the posting date.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
