SUMMARY:
The Payroll Analyst is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll while maintaining compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. This role analyzes payroll data, resolves discrepancies, supports audits, and works closely with HR, Finance, and external vendors to ensure payroll operations run efficiently. The Payroll Analyst will utilize the Paycom system to manage and process payroll functions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Process and review payroll in Paycom for accuracy, including wages, overtime, bonuses, deductions, and benefits
- Analyze payroll data to identify discrepancies, trends, and areas for improvement
- Ensure compliance with all applicable wage and hour laws, tax regulations, and company policies
- Maintain and update employee payroll records within Paycom, including tax withholdings and direct deposit information
- Reconcile payroll reports and general ledger accounts
- Research and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries in a timely manner
- Prepare and submit payroll tax filings and ensure timely payment of payroll-related liabilities
- Support internal and external audits by providing requested documentation and reports
- Collaborate with HR and Finance teams on employee data changes, benefits, and compensation updates
- Assist with Paycom system configurations, implementations, upgrades, and process improvements
- Generate payroll reports from Paycom for management and provide insights based on data analysis
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 6+ years of payroll processing or payroll analysis experience
- Strong knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements
- Hands-on experience with Paycom or comparable payroll system (required)
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation
- Experience with multi-state payroll processing
- Familiarity with HRIS and timekeeping systems, preferably Paycom
