Position Summary
Reporting directly to the COO/co-founder, the Senior Manager of Logistics plays a leadership role in scaling and streamlining the company’s operations for receiving, processing, and shipping returns. The senior manager of logistics is an accomplished professional with a successful track of record of building and scaling effective warehouse and logistics operations in a rapidly evolving environment.
The Senior Manager of Logistics will:
Lead the company’s effort to plan and launch at least one additional “hub” warehouse processing facility including site selection, staffing, workflow design, logistics, and all other details required for the facility’s success
Have ongoing primary management responsibility for the company’s current hub in Santa Monica as well as additional hubs
As necessary, recruit, manage, and lead a team of hub specialists to successfully inspect, refurbish, process, and ship returns in accordance with company goals
Model and maintain a culture of high performance, high morale, growth, and safety in all hub processing facilities
Manage relationships, processes, and technology and lead negotiations with carriers such as UPS, USPS, FedEx, etc.
Create and maintain processes to evaluate and improve the productivity of hub operations and personnel
Execute and/or manage any other projects beneficial to the success of the company, especially as they relate to operations and logistics
We are looking for someone with:
A minimum of eight years successful experience managing challenging warehouse and logistics operations in rapidly changing environments, preferably in startups
A bachelor’s degree in a field relevant to operations and logistics
Proven aptitude to help build or adapt complex software systems or other technology to streamline and scale logistics operations
An excellent ability to “zoom out” to strategic/executive level considerations and “zoom in” to manage small details required for operational success
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
Extensive knowledge of technologies and processes relating to shipping and logistics
