Company Overview

Most companies don't end in acquisition — they end in closure. Yet shutdown has never been given the same rigor, clarity, or professionalism as the moments that came before it. Nearly 4 million companies shut down every year, creating a massive, overlooked market. SimpleClosure is building the infrastructure to change that.

Having raised over $20M from leading VCs and trusted by more than 7,000 companies to date, we streamline the entire business dissolution process — from legal and tax to operational and administrative — as one coordinated effort instead of a patchwork of disconnected steps. We take it a step further by connecting founders with buyers for their remaining assets, so they can realize value that would otherwise be lost.

Joining SimpleClosure means helping define an entirely new category, solving complex, high-impact problems, and building the products and processes that support founders through one of the most important moments in a company's journey.

Job Overview

SimpleClosure is looking for an Operations Specialist to guide founders through the company dissolution process from start to finish. In this role, you'll serve as the main point of contact for clients navigating one of the most difficult moments in their business journey—translating complex legal, tax, and administrative requirements into a clear, manageable plan. You'll balance high-touch client support with process-oriented thinking, helping us continuously refine how we deliver shutdown services at scale. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced startup environment, enjoys solving ambiguous problems, and finds fulfillment in helping people through challenging transitions with empathy and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, introducing them to their personalized shutdown plans, guiding them through the dissolution process, and addressing their queries and concerns along the way.

  • Capture, document, and optimize processes to enhance operational efficiency and client satisfaction.

  • Collaborate closely with internal teams to ensure smooth operations and timely resolution of client issues.

  • Utilize Slack, Google Suite, Notion and other remote tools for efficient communication and documentation.

  • Cultivate an understanding of our services, processes, and legal requirements related to shutting down.

  • Provide exceptional customer service, demonstrating empathy and professionalism with client interactions.

  • Assist clients in gathering necessary documentation and information.

  • Ensure accurate and timely updates to clients regarding their progress.

  • Maintain organized and accurate records of all company dissolution activities.

  • Coordinate with external parties such as government agencies, regulatory bodies, and legal counsel to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve our internal processes and workflows.

Desired Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Start-up experience preferred

  • Ability to multitask and follow through on projects

  • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills

  • Exceptional problem-solving and interpersonal skills

  • Experience in operations, legal, or accounting a plus

What we offer
  • Base Salary: $65,000 to $75,000, depending on experience level and location

  • Competitive equity package

  • Comprehensive health benefits, including medical, dental, and vision

  • Life insurance

  • Unlimited paid time off

  • Remote work environment

  • Two company-wide offsites each year

  • 401(k) with Traditional and Roth options, with immediate eligibility

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
