Own and maintain the company-wide integrated master schedule across product design, engineering development, production, supply chain, and program execution. Build detailed milestone and critical-path schedules, monitor progress, identify risks and resource conflicts, coordinate mitigation plans, establish scheduling standards, and communicate schedule health and changes to leadership. The role requires strong understanding of aerospace or manufacturing processes and advanced scheduling capabilities.

Spacecraft represent the most pressing unmet need across the entire aerospace industry. As more launch vehicles come online and the cost to orbit decreases, more companies launching payloads to space continue to emerge.

For the first time in history, this influx of payload companies combined with reduced launch costs has resulted in a massive increase in need for commercial spacecraft platforms, known as satellite buses. These buses hold the payloads of our customers and are flown on launch vehicles.

Apex manufactures these satellite buses at scale using a combination of software, vertical integration, and hardware that is designed for manufacturing. Our spacecraft enable the future of society: ranging from earth observation to communications and more.

We’d love for you to join us on our mission of providing humankind access to the galaxy beyond our planet.

About the Role

Apex is looking for a Master Scheduler to own the company's overall schedule. This role builds and maintains the integrated master schedule that ties together product design, development, and program execution, and keeps leadership and every department tracking to plan. You will work across engineering, supply chain, production, program management, and leadership to build accurate schedules, surface risks early, and show clearly where the company is on plan and where it is not.

This is a senior, cross-company role. It fits someone who can hold the big picture across many programs while staying close enough to the work to build a credible, bottoms-up schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Own the integrated master schedule by building and maintaining the company-wide schedule that connects product design, development, and program execution across all programs.

  • Work with engineering to build design and development schedules, including major milestones, dependencies, and gates.

  • Create and manage detailed program execution schedules that drive on-time delivery and good use of resources.

  • Monitor progress across the company and its departments against the master schedule and show clearly where teams are on plan and where they are falling behind.

  • Learn the engineering development and production processes used to build Apex products and break down schedule tasks to reflect that technical scope.

  • Work with engineering, supply chain, production, and program management to keep schedules aligned and realistic.

  • Establish and maintain consistent scheduling processes, cadence, and standards so updates stay timely and schedules stay trustworthy across the company.

  • Identify risks to the schedule, work with teams on mitigation and contingency plans, and flag critical path issues early.

  • Address competing priorities and resource conflicts across programs to keep work moving.

  • Communicate schedule changes to the right stakeholders and make sure adjustments carry through the organization.

  • Provide regular updates to leadership on schedule health, progress, and major issues, including a clear read on whether the company is tracking to plan.

Requirements

  • U.S. Person status, as this role requires access to export-controlled data.

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing, or a related field.

  • 7+ years in scheduling or program planning, preferably in manufacturing or aerospace.

  • Track record building and owning complex, integrated schedules with many interdependent tasks across multiple programs or teams.

  • Strong understanding of engineering development and production processes.

  • Proficiency in scheduling software such as Microsoft Project and Smartsheet.

  • Experience building critical path and milestone schedules.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including working directly with leadership.

  • Comfort in a fast-moving environment with shifting priorities.

Preferred

  • Experience owning a company-level or integrated master schedule (IMS).

  • Experience delivering IMSs on a U.S. Government Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL).

  • Experience in satellite manufacturing or related industries (aerospace, defense, or high-tech).

  • Certification in project management or scheduling (PMP, CPIM, PMI-SP, or Six Sigma).

  • Experience scheduling both product development and production, not just one.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
