Newmark is seeking an accomplished Managing Director, Finance to lead the Financial Consulting team for its West Coast Investment Sales platform, based in El Segundo, California. Reporting into Kevin Shannon's team, this leader will direct a group of analysts and associates responsible for underwriting, valuation, and financial strategy across a high-volume pipeline of institutional commercial real estate transactions.

The ideal candidate pairs elite technical underwriting ability with proven leadership experience in a fast-paced institutional environment. This role calls for a strategic thinker who can govern complex assignments, mentor emerging talent, engage directly with brokers and clients, and continually elevate the quality and consistency of the team's financial analysis.

This is a senior leadership opportunity within one of the premier commercial real estate investment sales platforms in the United States.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the West Coast Financial Consulting team in support of institutional investment sales and capital markets transactions.

  • Manage, mentor, and develop a team of analysts and finance professionals across multiple concurrent assignments.

  • Direct underwriting and valuation for office, mixed-use, and other institutional commercial real estate assets.

  • Review and approve complex financial models, cash flow analyses, Broker Opinions of Value (BOVs), and offering memorandum financials.

  • Partner with brokers, clients, lenders, and ownership groups to refine assumptions, evaluate deal structures, and shape pricing strategy.

  • Establish scalable underwriting standards, workflows, and quality-control procedures across the platform.

  • Advise leadership on market trends, valuation methodology, capital markets dynamics, and transaction structuring.

  • Step into hands-on underwriting and execution for high-profile or technically complex assignments as needed.

  • Recruit, train, and retain top analytical talent to strengthen the long-term capability of the team.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 7 years of commercial real estate experience, with a strong focus on institutional underwriting and valuation.

  • Advanced expertise in ARGUS Enterprise and Excel-based financial modeling.

  • Deep command of real estate valuation, discounted cash flow analysis, debt structures, leasing economics, and capital markets.

  • Prior experience managing analysts or finance teams within a commercial real estate environment.

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Real Estate, Economics, Accounting, or a related field.

  • Institutional office experience strongly preferred.

  • Familiarity with AI platforms and analytics tools is a plus.

Salary Range: 

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $150,000 to $400,000 annually.  The actual base salary will be determined on an individualized basis taking into account a wide range of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, education, and, where applicable, licenses or certifications held. In addition to base salary and a competitive benefits package (including health, vision, and dental insurance, paid time off and a 401(k) retirement plan with employer matching), this position may be eligible for additional types of compensation including discretionary bonuses and other short- and long-term incentives (e.g., deferred cash, equity, etc.).
