Netflix is one of the world's leading entertainment services, with over 300 million paid memberships in over 190 countries enjoying TV series, films and games across a wide variety of genres and languages. Members can play, pause and resume watching as much as they want, anytime, anywhere, and can change their plans at any time.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Are you passionate about documentaries—so much so that they top your “must-watch” list ahead of scripted films and popular series? Do you thrive on crafting award-winning, breakthrough marketing campaigns? The Netflix Nonfiction Marketing team seeks a creative marketing leader to lead the day-to-day development and execution of consumer marketing campaigns for a diverse slate of documentary films and series.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • You have a proven track record of building impactful, world-class, culturally relevant creative campaigns that connect with audiences and break through the zeitgeist.

  • You have worked on 360 campaigns, from strategy development to leading tactical execution (i.e. AV/trailers, digital/social, print/out-of-home and more).

  • You can conceptualize and articulate creative strategy and big ideas that people will rally around. You understand how to tell a strategic, compelling and cohesive story across all platforms.

  • You have a strong passion for documentaries and nonfiction storytelling.

  • You are a cross-functional team player who is able to engage, listen and collaborate with internal departments. You seek to be the connector of information rather than the gatekeeper.

  • You can effectively communicate to executives, filmmakers, showrunners, producers, talent and talent representatives as needed.

  • You possess an excellent ability to problem solve across a vast array of conflicts and challenges every day.

  • You are a proactive self-starter, who is resourceful and solution-oriented. You demonstrate strong judgment in the face of ambiguity.

  • You thrive in a fast-paced, multifaceted and demanding environment.

  • You strive to innovate, try new technologies and disrupt marketing norms in your work.

  • You actively leverage data & insights, and are not afraid to ask questions and challenge the status quo.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and develop culturally relevant and impactful documentary launch campaigns (AV/trailers, digital/social, print/out-of-home and more) that connect with consumers - from strategy development to creative execution and production.

  • Engage audiences and generate large-scale conversation through a combination of traditional single-title campaigns and alternative approaches.

  • Provide high level filmmaker & showrunner / talent support across the documentary slate.

  • Key contact amongst all cross functional teams including content, publicity, communications, creative marketing production, product, and editorial to optimize across teams and ensure goals are being met.

  • Oversee overall scope, budget, and resources for your campaigns.

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

  • 8-10+ years of experience in building strategic and creative consumer marketing campaigns, preferably at a streaming network or studio with a background in entertainment (TV, film, gaming), global lifestyle/sports brand or creative/advertising agency.

  • Key decision maker in a senior marketing role. Someone who is challenged and energized by changes and creating opportunities for the business.

  • High-touch talent management skills, with the ability to effectively communicate different facets of their campaigns to executives, showrunners (or filmmakers), talent and talent representatives (as needed).

  • Experience managing a high volume of campaign types in parallel.

  • Experience managing high-risk legal projects, along with the ability to respond rapidly and judiciously to real-world events.

  • Strong interpersonal, creative, presentation, problem solving, negotiating, influencing, facilitation, organizational, prioritization, decision making, analytical and conflict resolution skills.

  • Experienced in agency/brand relationship building, capable of shaping productive long-term relations with external partners by providing continuous feedback.

  • A cross-functional leader who is able to engage, listen and collaborate with internal departments/teams to align early on in terms of overall strategy and goals, and to see the cross-functional collaboration through launch.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
