About this team:

Manager, Infrastructure Engineering provides technical leadership for the Infrastructure Engineering team, shaping direction while ensuring adoption of established best practices. This role requires broad expertise across the infrastructure stack, with the ability to evaluate and propose impactful technology changes, collaborate with Production Engineering stakeholders, and mentor senior engineers.

The team is a core part of Production Engineering, responsible for building and operating global data center and cloud platforms at scale. Key areas include inventory and configuration management, monitoring and metrics infrastructure, platform integrations, capacity planning, automation, networking, and system and application troubleshooting.

This group also supports high-volume advertising auction systems, managing Hadoop-based environments, key-value stores, Kubernetes clusters, and other modern technologies.

In this role you will:  

Leadership

  • Alignment of department to business and strategic goals

  • Continuing to build and develop your department to meet the future needs of the organization.

  • Resource forecasting and planning to meet product release plans

  • Management and governance of incidents, problems, and changes including escalations, meeting SLAs, and driving best practice across teams

  • Conduct performance reviews & appraisals

  • Mentoring engineering leaders within your department

Teams & People

  • Ability to inspire a team and motivate people around a shared vision

  • Excellent communication, planning, and organizational skills

  • Work closely with Tech Lead(s) to develop and grow team members

  • Manages, focuses, and ensures team execution and delivery

  • Manages team execution, milestones, and timelines

  • Provides team/project status and metrics

Communication & Collaboration

  • Central point of contact for key stakeholders across the business, including planning, prioritization, and estimation to ensure business needs are met

  • Cascading communication - foster and ensure relevant communication of information necessary to teams

  • External communication about team execution and delivery status and metrics

  • Primary liaison with Product / Product Owners and other stakeholders

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Provide technical leadership to the Technical Operations organization.

  • Provide technical guidance and advice to the larger Engineering organization

  • Drive automation and standardization to enable the rapid deployment of systems

  • Perform architectural review of business systems

  • Ensure the operational integrity of the global infrastructure

  • Build scalable systems to enable the management of thousands of hosts and services

  • Build and operate multi-tenant data systems such as Hadoop , Kafka, Kubernetes

  • Participate in the on-call rotation

We’re looking for someone with 

  • BA/BS degree preferred, or equivalent work experience in relevant discipline 

  • 10+ year’s experience working in Systems Engineering, SRE, or similar function

  • Strong understanding of continuous integration and continuous deployment concepts

  • Passion for automation

  • Motivated, self-starting individual

  • Strong desire and ability to educate others on building quality systems

  • Ability to use data to justify decisions

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment

  • Comfortable collaborating and supporting a diverse team of engineers

  • Ability to troubleshoot problems in complex systems

  • Experience in ad tech industry preferred

  • Experience with a global  business preferred 

  • Understanding of digital advertising industry, and programmatic market a plus

Technical Skills

  • Strong Linux background, deep familiarity with related concepts 

  • 10+ years of experience in a high volume 24x7 environment with 500+ servers

  • 10+ years of experience scripting or coding in common languages like Bash, Python, Go

  • System installs with PXE, kickstart, and Cobbler

  • Experience deploying and managing configuration management tools like Puppet or Chef

  • Detailed experience with revision control concepts, particularly as they relate to continuous integration. (GIT preferred) 

  • Strong knowledge of common Internet protocols (TCP, DNS, HTTP)

  • Experience with Kubernetes or other Container Orchestration systems

  • Experience with virtualization

  • Experience with  cloud based infrastructures

  • Experience with deploying and managing CI tools like Jenkins

  • Experience with artifact repositories like Nexus, Yum, etc.

In the US, the base salary range for this role is $160,000 – $180,000.
Actual compensation will be determined based on location, experience, skills, and internal equity.

This role is also eligible for:
