Looker Architect

About The RoleThis role is responsible for maintaining and evolving our Looker architecture to support a scalable, reliable, and user-friendly Business Intelligence ecosystem. You will manage core data models, reporting structures, and platform administration while partnering with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality analytics solutions. The ideal candidate is hands-on, pragmatic, and passionate about building robust BI foundations that enable data-driven decision-making across the organization.

What You Get To Do Every Day

• Maintain and enhance LookML models, Explores, dashboards, and reporting assets to ensure accuracy, performance, and scalability.
• Administer the Looker platform, including user access, permissions, system health monitoring, and operational support.
• Troubleshoot and resolve reporting and data issues in partnership with Data Engineering and business stakeholders.
• Deliver enhancements and scalable BI solutions that support evolving business needs while enabling self-service analytics.
• Optimize platform performance by improving query efficiency, usability, and data model design.
• Lead legacy content cleanup by identifying and deprecating outdated reports and dashboards.
• Partner with InfoSec and internal teams to support governance, access reviews, and compliance requirements.
• Create documentation, provide user training, and promote best practices to ensure effective knowledge sharing and platform adoption.

What You Bring To The Role

Minimum Requirements:

• 7+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Analytics Engineering, or a related field.
• Hands-on experience with Looker, including LookML development and administration.
• Advanced SQL skills and strong understanding of relational data modeling.
• Hands-on experience working with modern cloud data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, Google BigQuery, or Amazon Redshift) to query data and optimize downstream Looker performance.
• Demonstrated proficiency with Git or platform-native version control for LookML code deployment, branching, and model maintenance.
• Proven experience collaborating directly with cross-functional teams (such as Product, Sales Ops, Marketing, or Data Engineering) to translate business requirements into technical BI solutions.
• Experience managing user roles, access permissions, and governance/security protocols within a BI platform.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Statistics, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Requirements:

• 8–10+ years supporting enterprise Business Intelligence and analytics platforms
• Proven success maintaining and optimizing Looker semantic models, Explores, dashboards, and reporting frameworks
• Familiarity with data pipelines and upstream/downstream data dependencies
• Understanding of BI governance, access management, and data security best practices
• Background working in audit or compliance environments (e.g., SOX)
• Strong knowledge of query optimization, data quality troubleshooting, and performance tuning
• A hands-on, solutions-oriented approach with strong ownership, accountability, and attention to detail

The expected salary range for this role is $160,000.00-$180,000.00. To determine starting pay we carefully consider a variety of factors, including primary work location and an evaluation of a candidate’s skills, experience, market demands, and internal parity. Additionally, salary is just one component of TRR’s total rewards package. Depending on role, employees may also be eligible for a bonus program, incentive pay and benefits.
