We are looking for an innovative Legal Operations Specialist with an interest in modernizing our dynamic in-house legal department.  If you are a recent graduate or skilled AI specialist who has some background supporting business or legal projects, we want you to bring your background and AI automation skills to our group. We are looking for an ambitious, tech-ready individual to be part of Internet Brands’ Legal Department in El Segundo. This position will help us bridge the gap between traditional legal practice and cutting-edge artificial intelligence workflows.

You will be working on traditional projects and operational tasks but also will be leveraging AI tools to supercharge our legal workflows and design the future of our in house practice. You don't need a law degree—you need intellectual curiosity, a knack for tech, and a drive to innovate coupled with some legal or business background.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Legal Team with all aspects of contract intake and management, including primary oversight of internal and external-facing legal, privacy and compliance email inboxes and communication, triage and assigning projects to attorneys.

  • Support the Legal Team with the maintenance of the corporate intellectual property portfolio, which involves, at minimum, the continuous curation of Company trademarks, copyrights and patents and the ability to properly register and update those items to meet corporate deadlines.

  • Support the on-going maintenance of corporate insurance policies, which involves, at minimum, the ability to collect and organize confidential data from various stakeholders and provide effective communication about issues.

  • Assist in the compliance review of new products, services, and features.

  • Research applicable laws, regulations, codes, and publications.

  • Coordinate legal documents, bills/invoices, litigation activities, various audits and special projects.

  • Support the Legal Team with due diligence for potential M&A and other corporate activities

  • AI-Driven Legal Research: Utilize advanced legal AI platforms and traditional databases to conduct rapid, comprehensive case law and regulatory research.

  • Prompt Engineering: Design, test, and refine prompts to draft initial contracts, pleadings, and legal correspondence using generative AI tools.

  • Workflow Automation: Identify bottlenecks in traditional legal processes and implement automation tools (e.g., Zapier, Make, or built-in legal tech macros) to streamline operations.

  • Data & Knowledge Management: Train and maintain internal AI knowledge bases, ensuring our proprietary data is securely and efficiently leveraged.

  • Quality Assurance: Meticulously review, fact-check, and verify AI-generated outputs against primary sources to ensure absolute legal accuracy and compliance.

  • Tech Scouting: Keep the legal team on the cutting edge by continuously testing and recommending new legal tech and AI tools.

What We Are Looking For

  • Recent Graduate: Bachelor’s degree in Pre-Law, Political Science, Legal Studies, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.

  • AI Enthusiast: Proven familiarity or hands-on experience with LLMs (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude), prompt engineering, or specialized legal AI platforms.

  • Detail-Oriented: A sharp eye for error detection; you understand that AI is a powerful assistant, but human verification is paramount.

  • Agile Learner: Ability to pivot quickly, master new software in days, and thrive in an evolving, tech-forward environment.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal skills, with the ability to translate complex legal concepts into clear, concise tech workflows (and vice versa).

  • Project Experience: Previous experience supporting business or legal projects or an understanding of operations of an in house legal team.

At Internet Brands, we carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, including your background and experience. These considerations can cause your compensation to vary. The range for this position starts at $60K and will depend on your skills, qualifications, and experience. We encourage all interested candidates to apply

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
