This is an in-person position based out of our Wynwood office in Miami, FL.

The Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Legal Counsel to join our legal team. Reporting directly to the Chief Legal Officer, this role offers a unique opportunity to work in a fast-paced fintech environment, providing legal support across a variety of business areas. You will work alongside various departments to develop new products, negotiate agreements, advise on legal risk and regulatory compliance in a variety of areas, support corporate, employment and litigation matters. We are looking for a highly adaptable, organized, and self-motivated individual who has a creative legal mind, amazing attention to detail, and is inspired by Majority’s mission to empower and serve global communities by making financial services more inclusive, accessible, and human.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contract Review & Drafting: Assist in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts to support business operations.
  • Consumer Finance Regulations: Advise on laws and regulations governing consumer financial products and services, including disclosure obligations and consumer protection standards.
  • Legal Research & Analysis: Conduct research on complex legal issues across corporate, regulatory, privacy, and compliance matters.
  • Marketing & Social Media Compliance: Advise on compliance with advertising laws, social media regulations, and marketing campaigns.
  • Corporate Transactions: Support legal aspects of investment rounds, including due diligence, documentation review, and stakeholder communication.
  • Privacy Compliance:  Provide guidance on data privacy laws and regulations, including GDPR, CCPA, and other applicable frameworks, ensuring the company’s practices align with legal requirements.
  • Product Counseling: partnering closely with the product and compliance teams to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice throughout the product development lifecycle with a focus on regulatory compliance, risk mitigation, and user trust.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Provide guidance on legal risks and best practices across departments, including product, operations, and marketing teams.
  • General Legal Support: Contribute to any legal matter that arises within the organization, ensuring alignment with applicable laws and regulatory frameworks.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from a top U.S. law school.
  • Admission to practice law in at least one jurisdiction (US or equivalent).
  • 4-7 years of combined relevant experience in law firms and in-house legal departments.
  • Experience working with fintechs or financial services companies.
  • Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills.
  • Experience with consumer finance regulations - familiarity with laws and regulations governing consumer financial products and services, including compliance with advertising, disclosure, and data privacy requirements.
  • Ability to work independently and adaptively, anticipate and mitigate friction points, and take the initiative to drive projects to completion.
  • Excellent communication skills, with a practical, solution-oriented approach.
  • Proficiency in Spanish is preferred, but not required.
  • Experience with marketing compliance or corporate transactions.
