Human Resources Manager

Location: Stockton, CA
Schedule: Full-Time | 100% Onsite
Industry: Real Estate / Property Management
Compensation: $120,000–$135,000

Trueline is seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to join a growing real estate and property management organization based in Stockton, CA.

This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for an HR professional who enjoys being close to the business, employees and day-to-day operations. The HR Manager will partner directly with executive leadership while overseeing employee relations, compliance, performance management and the continued development of HR processes and programs.

The organization has experienced significant growth, so they’re looking for someone who can bring structure, identify gaps and implement practical solutions while remaining approachable and connected to employees.

What You’ll Do
  • Serve as a trusted HR partner to executive leadership and managers
  • Lead employee relations, investigations, corrective action and performance management
  • Coach managers through employee issues, documentation and difficult conversations
  • Maintain compliance with California employment laws and evolving regulatory requirements
  • Review and strengthen HR policies, procedures and SOPs
  • Manage recruiting, onboarding and other employee lifecycle processes
  • Oversee benefits, leaves of absence and workers’ compensation
  • Partner closely with Finance and Payroll on employee and payroll-related matters
  • Support HRIS administration, reporting and process improvements
  • Mentor and develop existing HR staff
  • Help strengthen culture, communication and consistency across a growing multi-location organization
  • Proactively identify HR gaps and recommend and implement solutions
What We’re Looking For
  • 7+ years of progressive HR experience, including HR management or leadership responsibility
  • Strong hands-on experience with employee relations and workplace investigations
  • Solid knowledge of California employment law and HR compliance
  • Experience coaching managers and partnering with senior leadership
  • Demonstrated ability to build, improve or clean up HR policies, processes and infrastructure
  • Broad HR generalist experience across performance management, recruiting, benefits, leaves, workers’ compensation and HRIS
  • Working knowledge of payroll and experience partnering with payroll/finance
  • Experience mentoring or developing HR team members
  • Strong judgment and ability to confidently navigate sensitive employee matters
  • Comfortable balancing leadership responsibilities with hands-on HR execution
  • Approachable, collaborative and able to build trust across all levels of an organization
  • SHRM or HRCI certification preferred
What Will Make You Successful

The strongest candidate will be someone who has already owned an HR function or operated as a strong #2 within one and is ready to take greater ownership.

You won’t be walking into a perfectly finished HR department. This opportunity is best suited for someone who enjoys evaluating what’s already in place, identifying what can be improved and then taking the initiative to make those improvements happen.

Just as importantly, this organization values someone who can build strong relationships. You should be able to establish credibility with executives while remaining visible, accessible and trusted by employees.

Why This Opportunity

You’ll have direct exposure to executive leadership and the ability to make a noticeable impact on a growing organization. Rather than simply maintaining established processes, you’ll have an opportunity to strengthen the HR function, develop the existing team and help build the infrastructure needed for continued growth.

Compensation: $120,000–$135,000, depending on experience.
Location: Stockton, CA (this position is 100% onsite)

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
