Description

Empire Management Group is currently seeking a qualified and professional HR Manager to be responsible for a growing set of facilities that has 70 exempt and non-exempt staff members company wide. As an HR Manager at Empire Management Group, you will be a part of the on-site management team and partner with executive management to deliver high quality support and advice. You will work to support our vision and direction in providing world class service. The HR Manager will be responsible for ensuring that Empire Management Group has a sustainable and reliable workforce to meet the needs of the company. This position will provide guidance across medical and clerical employment law, recruitment, on-boarding, performance management, change management, training, and engagement initiatives. In this position, you will have the ability to lead a broad array of HR initiatives in a challenging and rewarding environment where you will play a significant role in impacting our people strategy. This is a role where your contributions will be noticed and you will be able to make a real difference within our organization. 


List of Duties and Responsibilities:

General HR Support

  • Provides support to employees and managers in the handling of all human resource related activities which may include: employee relations, fielding employee questions or concerns, communication and the interpretation of policies and procedures.
  • Supports and serves as a liaison between employees and management.
  • Recommends and implements features within the HRIS platform to streamline and automate HR processes. 
  • Provides counsel to employees and management to maintain a productive and positive work environment, including development planning, coaching, employee recognition, etc.
  • Advises managers on salary offers and pay structure.
  • Coordinates and be point of contact for company’s benefit programs including benefit renewals, researching, recommending, and implementing benefit programs (Health, Dental, Life, Disability, Retirements, FSA, and COBRA).
  • Manages employee Leave of Absences, Short-Term Disability, FMLA requests, Workers Compensation issues, OSHA requirements, Relocation, PTO issues, and unemployment claims.
  • Coordinates workers compensation program, includes issues relating to modified duty/early return to work, ADA and litigation.
  • Assists in the recruitment efforts and new hire and transfer processes including but not limited to: coordination of openings, development of job descriptions, recruitment strategies, interviews candidates, job offer recommendations and offer letters, writes decline letters, writes announcements, conducts background and credit checks, ensures successful and welcoming employee on-boarding, and acts as liaison with the department manager and the executive team.
  • Conducts employee investigations as needed and ensure timely and responsible resolutions.
  • Conducts benefit orientations and benefit education meetings for new hires and existing staff members. 
  • Processes termination paperwork, conducts exit interviews, and analyzes turnover data.
  • Consults with appropriate legal counsel as needed acts as an agent for the company in legal matters.
  • Ensures the compliance of safety and security of employees and works with the appropriate management.

Performance Management

  • Consults with and advises management to maximize employee productivity through swift and timely resolution.
  • Resolves employee performance issues to ensure appropriate corrective action steps are taken and documented, including coaching, verbal / written warnings (corrective action), performance improvement plans.
  • Conducts employee performance reviews with appropriate management

Training

  • Ensures all associates and managers are properly trained to use tools, equipment, and resources for effective performance and development evaluations and merit and compensation reviews.
  • Provides counsel and support to managers for performance development and improvement.
  • Provides and tracks compliance of required training including conducting new employee orientation, new manager orientation, Harassment Awareness and other related compliance training, leadership and management courses, etc. as needed.

Compliance

  • Ensures compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations pertaining to Human Resources matters.
  • Monitors and provides feedback regarding the use of policies and procedures and propose / draft policies / updates as needed.

Classification:

Full-time position, exempt

Salary:

$75,000-85,000 starting salary, depending on experience

Requirements

Skills:

  • Strong communications skills: interpersonal, oral, and written.
  • Must be able to work with all levels of associates and management within the organization.
  • Ability to independently prioritize workload and self-manage projects, handle multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines.
  • Needs to provide quality work by ensuring work is timely, accurate, and thorough.
  • Computer Skills: Mac environment and applications: Numbers, Keynote, Pages, iCal.
  • Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills; ability to analyze data.
  • Human Resource experience should include familiarity with and experience in recruitment, associate relations, associate communications, California labor law, and leave of absence laws.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Business, Organizational Management or comparable discipline, or related field experience preferred.

PHR, SPHR, or SHRM certification is a plus.

3 to 5 years as a HR Manager

Knowledge of Federal and State employment laws, Investigation Skills, HR technical knowledge in FMLA, ADA, unemployment, and worker's compensation.

Qualifications:

Experience with HRIS systems (Paylocity, ADP, etc)

Knowledge of basic HR law and applications desired

Extensive background as a HR Manager, ideally within a medical setting

Retirement and benefit plan administration experience strongly preferred
