  • Coordinate new-hire onboarding, orientation, required documentation, and employee setup.
  • Manage employee offboarding and separation documentation.
  • Maintain employee personnel files and HR records.
  • Monitor required licenses, certifications, credentials, and employment documentation.
  • Assist employees and supervisors with attendance, performance, and workplace concerns.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation related to verbal warnings, written warnings, performance improvement plans, and corrective actions.
  • Participate in employee meetings involving performance or conduct concerns.
  • Document employee complaints and escalate matters requiring management review or investigation.
  • Support management with employee separations and termination documentation.
  • Coordinate leaves of absence and maintain required documentation and communication.
  • Assist employees with benefits and HR-related questions.
  • Track employee status changes, promotions, transfers, compensation changes, and other personnel actions.
  • Maintain HR systems and ensure employee information remains current.
  • Assist with workers' compensation administration and employee follow-up.
  • Support recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and pre-employment processes as needed.
  • Ensure HR forms, acknowledgments, policies, and required documentation are completed and maintained.
  • Assist with implementation of company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality of employee and organizational information.
  • Support compliance with applicable California and federal employment requirements.
  • Prepare HR reports and maintain internal tracking systems.
  • Complete HR projects and administrative responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of Human Resources experience preferred.
  • Experience working directly with employees in an HR Generalist, HR Coordinator, HR Specialist, or similar role.
  • Working knowledge of California employment practices.
  • Experience with employee relations, onboarding, offboarding, leave administration, corrective action documentation, and personnel records.
  • Ability to communicate with employees at all levels of an organization.
  • Ability to handle employee concerns with discretion and professionalism.
  • Strong documentation and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple employee matters and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HR information systems.
  • Experience working in healthcare, behavioral health, social services, or a nonprofit organization preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field preferred. Equivalent HR experience will also be considered.
  • PHR, SHRM-CP, or similar HR certification is a plus but not required.
What We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who likes the day-to-day work of Human Resources.

The right candidate will be comfortable speaking with employees, answering questions, following up on unresolved issues, keeping documentation organized, addressing problems when they arise, and making sure HR responsibilities do not fall through the cracks.

This position requires someone who is approachable with employees while maintaining appropriate boundaries, confidentiality, consistency, and accountability.

Salary Range: $65,000–$75,000 annually, depending on experience.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
