Who we are

Neros is a defense technology company rebuilding America’s drone industrial base. We design and manufacture high-performance unmanned systems that are tested in combat, iterated at startup speed, and built at massive scale. Our team culture is fast, hands-on, and obsessed with closing the gap between design and deployment.

As drones transform the character of warfare, Neros is delivering the systems the West needs to compete on the modern battlefield and deter the adversaries of democracy. We’re hiring engineers, operators, and builders who want to move fast, take on extreme ownership, and get capability into the hands of warfighters in months, not years.

What you will be doing

We’re looking for a highly capable HR Business Partner, a builder in their soul, a people person at their heart, collaborative by nature, and execution-focused in everything they do, to partner closely with managers and leaders across the organization, particularly within Production and manufacturing teams, to help scale our people practices thoughtfully and effectively.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a high-growth environment and enjoys balancing strategic partnership with hands-on execution. You will work directly with leaders to drive performance, elevate teams, navigate employee relations matters, support organizational changes, and help build scalable People programs and processes that enable Neros to grow responsibly and quickly.

You’ll also be part of a People team that operates as one team, with one mission: to be the best People team possible, working together to drive excellence across the organization.

Manager Partnership & Coaching

  • Partner closely with managers and leaders to provide practical, business-minded guidance on performance management, team effectiveness, employee development, and organizational design
  • Coach managers through leadership topics, employee relations matters, feedback conversations, performance improvement plans, and terminations with sound judgment and empathy
  • Help leaders navigate promotions, leveling, compensation conversations, and team planning

Organizational Growth & Change Management

  • Partner on organizational design, and change management initiatives, including communication strategies
  • Partner with managers to refine roles and responsibilities and build the structure needed to set teams up for success
  • Support organizational changes including restructures and role changes
  • Help elevate our managers and employees through ongoing coaching, timely feedback, and development opportunities
  • Help ensure our People practices scale effectively as the business grows and be part of the building and scaling phase

People Programs & Processes

  • Be part of a team that builds, drives, and executes core People programs, different trainings, and policy rollouts
  • Create and support clear communications, timelines, and documentation to ensure smooth execution across programs

Employee Relations & Compliance

  • Support and lead employee relations matters and investigations with fairness, consistency, and strong documentation
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
  • Partner with Legal and leadership on sensitive or complex employee matters when needed

You should have the following

  • 4+ years of experience in an HRBP or People Partner role supporting Production teams, manufacturing, supply chain and hardware
  • Creativity and a builder mindset - you create programs and solutions that are thoughtful, innovative, and not “copy-paste"
  • A genuine passion for people; you care deeply about coaching, developing, and supporting others
  • Highly collaborative and cross-functional; you build strong partnerships across People Ops, Recruiting, Finance, Payroll, Legal, and business leaders to drive outcomes
  • Strong communicator with the ability to influence and align stakeholders across functions and levels
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and working across teams to create scalable, practical solutions
  • Experience advising managers in fast-paced, high-growth, startup environments
  • Deep understanding of employee relations, performance management, and employment law compliance
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive and complex people matters with sound judgment and discretion
  • Strong project and program management skills, with the ability to drive multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Comfortable rolling up your sleeves and operating both strategically and tactically-no task is too small
  • High attention to detail, strong documentation and communication skills, and a process-oriented mindset
  • Experience working in global and multicultural environments
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, hardware, manufacturing, or other highly operational environments is a plus
  • HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP/SCP) is a plus

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
