About Anthropic

Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Global Senior Equity Program Manager to manage Anthropic's equity compensation strategy and operations across all global markets. In this pivotal role, you will design, implement, and manage comprehensive equity programs that attract, retain, and motivate top talent while supporting our mission to develop safe and beneficial AI systems. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams including People, Legal, Finance, and Tax to ensure our equity programs are competitive, compliant, and aligned with our values as a public benefit corporation.

As Anthropic continues to scale globally, you will play a critical role in building equity frameworks that support our international expansion while maintaining consistency with our compensation philosophy. This role offers the opportunity to shape equity compensation practices at one of the most important AI safety companies during a period of significant growth.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee daily equity plan operations including grant processing, option exercises, cancellations and cap table management
  • Build and optimize processes for equity transactions while ensuring accuracy and compliance
  • Manage monthly equity reconciliations and reporting
  • Lead demographic and payroll system integrations to streamline equity operations
  • Develop and implement automated processes for tax rate calculations and payroll integration
  • Create scalable workflows that can support our growing headcount and global expansion
  • Provide high-touch service to ensure employees understand their equity compensation
  • Execute simple equity tax calculations in coordination with payroll processing
  • Ensure timely and accurate tax withholding and reporting for equity transactions
  • Support development of equity tax policies and procedures
  • Design and document standard operating procedures for all equity operations
  • Create scalable processes that will support transition to public company requirements
  • Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on equity-related questions and programs
You may be a good fit if you have:
  • A Certified Equity Professional (CEP) designation
  • 8+ years of experience in equity administration, stock plan management, or related field
  • Strong knowledge of equity compensation principles (stock options, RSUs)
  • Experience with Shareworks equity management platforms
  • Proficiency in payroll systems integration and tax withholding processes
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to explain complex equity concepts to employees
Strong candidates may have:
  • Experience at high-growth technology companies during scaling phases
  • Knowledge of US and international equity compensation and tax requirements
  • Excellent project management skills with a track record of leading complex, cross-functional initiatives
  • Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills and experience with modeling

The expected salary range for this position is:

Annual Salary:
$190,000$230,000 USD
Logistics

Education requirements: We require at least a Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
Location-based hybrid policy:
Currently, we expect all staff to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time. However, some roles may require more time in our offices.

Visa sponsorship: We do sponsor visas! However, we aren't able to successfully sponsor visas for every role and every candidate. But if we make you an offer, we will make every reasonable effort to get you a visa, and we retain an immigration lawyer to help with this.

We encourage you to apply even if you do not believe you meet every single qualification. Not all strong candidates will meet every single qualification as listed.  Research shows that people who identify as being from underrepresented groups are more prone to experiencing imposter syndrome and doubting the strength of their candidacy, so we urge you not to exclude yourself prematurely and to submit an application if you're interested in this work. We think AI systems like the ones we're building have enormous social and ethical implications. We think this makes representation even more important, and we strive to include a range of diverse perspectives on our team.

How we're different

We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills.

The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences.

Come work with us!

Anthropic is a public benefit corporation headquartered in San Francisco. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and a lovely office space in which to collaborate with colleagues. What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
