The Role

Sofar Sounds is seeking a dynamic Freelance Producer to lead the planning and execution of a one-of-a-kind boat party concert for 150–200 guests in Los Angeles this August. This role is perfect for an experienced live event producer with deep local connections, a flair for creating memorable experiences, and the hustle to manage all aspects of a large-scale, floating Sofar show. This is a freelance, project fee opportunity designed to be flexible yet fast-paced. You’ll work closely with Sofar’s LA team to deliver a high-quality, culturally relevant event that’s both profitable and unforgettable.

What you'll do

  • Oversee the full event production life cycle – from venue research, scouting and management to creative concepting and execution
  • Producing and managing a 150–200 person boat party concert in August, ensuring every touchpoint feels magical and on-brand
  • Researching, scouting, booking and managing all logistics related to the the boat and boat staff
  • Managing the event budget and logistics to ensure a smooth, financially successful experience
  • Collaborating with Sofar’s LA team on programming, sponsorships, and content opportunities
  • Ensuring all operations, staffing, and guest experiences are up to Sofar’s high standards
  • Capturing learnings from this pilot format to help inform future large-scale events

Who are you are:

  • A seasoned event producer with 3–5 years of experience in live events / experiential marketing
  • A competent negotiator who can secure favorable rates to maximize event profitability
  • Connected to LA’s creative and cultural scenes — especially music, nightlife, and pop-up events (bonus if you have experience with boat parties)
  • Skilled at managing timelines, budgets, and vendors for large-scale events
  • Confident in leading on-site teams, and navigating last-minute pivots
  • Entrepreneurial, organized, and excited by new formats and event innovation
  • Available to start immediately
  • Must be located in Los Angeles
