The Financial Analyst for Commercial Finance will provide financial analysis, strategic insights, and data-driven decision support to leadership at Wonderful Pistachios. This role will focus on developing, preparing, and presenting financial data, while maintaining the organization’s price strategy through the execution of the annual price list. The position will collaborate closely with Sales, Marketing, and Operations teams to evaluate business opportunities, support product launches, and communicate profitability.

This position will be based at our West Los Angeles, CA office. We work a hybrid schedule with an in-office requirement Monday-Wednesday and the option to work remotely on Thursday and Friday.

Job Description

  • Assist in the maintenance and execution of annual and ad-hoc retail price list publications, collaborating with internal business partners to ensure target margins and trade strategies are achieved
    • Ensure all changes to price and margin are approved, communicated and implemented in accordance with business needs
    • Collaborate closely with Sales and Customer Service teams, facilitating timely actions to uphold pricing integrity throughout the order process
    • Conduct periodic review of item expenses: production cost, logistics expense, market price, trade spend strategy, impact of customer price deductions.
  • Maintain financial models to support budgeting, forecasting, and decision-making processes for Commercial Business
    • Prepare financial forecasts and scenarios for New Product Development
    • Perform research and analysis, including historical financial data, as required
    • Provide commentary explaining key assumptions, trends, and risks
    • Assist in budget preparation and projecting financial results
    • Conduct ad-hoc financial analysis and presentations for strategic initiatives
  • Monitor financial performance through various reports and dashboards, ensuring they align with budget forecasts and business goals.
    • Assist in month end financial reporting and variance explanations
    • Present financial performance to stakeholders in a clear, concise, and actionable manner
    • Generate gross margin summary reports at item level for key sales channels and accounts
    • Track performance metrics, trends and drivers for shipments, spending and profitability
    • Conduct post launch reflection of the financial performance of new product launches and capture learnings for future initiatives
    • Use visual aids such as charts, graphs, and dashboards to make complex financial data easier to understand
  • Identify, develop, and implement process improvements
    • Participate in cross functional problem-solving teams
    • Support continuous improvement initiatives through data collection, process redesign, and tracking results
  • Support International Retail Business
    • Prepare profit and loss financials and understand business drivers
    • Assist with the process and setup of yearly budgets
    • Provide any ad-hoc analysis as needed

Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of relevant experience in FP&A or related field
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Statistics or a related field is preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office; advanced Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with or a strong willingness to become proficient in Power BI, including transforming data, creating measures, and building reports
  • Experience with Oracle or another large ERP system a plus
  • Ability to perform financial analysis, including ability to effectively communicate findings and recommendations
  • Strong attention to detail and a desire for accuracy
  • Outstanding verbal/written communication, presentation, organizational and teamwork skills
  • Collaborative team player, strong relationship-building, and active partnership with cross-functional teams
  • Strong analytics and strategic thinking skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and entrepreneurial spirit to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to interact with department leadership and senior executives in a confident and professional manner
  • Comfortable with shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment

Pay Range: $75,000 - $85,000 and may include a discretionary bonus. Final compensation will be dependent upon skills & experience.
