NBCUniversal is looking for a Senior Analystwith an accounting and/or finance background, in-depth ERP functional knowledge, and the skills for process design and optimization to join NBCU's TechOps Corporate Business Solutions Team. This position will help the department by providing business analysis in support of reengineering, and launching efficient business, financial, and operations systems workflows in support of business cases, proposed projects, and systems requirements. This position will be largely dedicated to our Income (1099) Reporting and Tax processes and leading its strategic evolution.
Job Description
This position is responsible for the coordination, delivery, support of Income (1099) Reporting and tax processes, and a portfolio of financial applications within NBCUniversal.
Scope of work includes coordination of application software, support, and development for enterprise, custom and 'off-the-shelf' technologies and will also be responsible for supporting the development and maintenance of tax technology solutions. The Analyst will work closely with Accounting and Finance team members and subject matter experts to understand business requirements and develop a deep understanding of NBCU's financial processes specifically around tax. The role will support current and future processes, ensuring their efficiency, accuracy, and completeness. The Analyst will represent IT on cross-functional project teams, working closely with our Product and Engineering Teams to implement creative, best-in-class solutions that will improve the automation of existing processes and ensure data integrity.
We are looking for a self-motivated, agile team-player who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, willing to challenge existing solutions, and has a demonstrable ability to create and maintain collaborative working relationships with cross-functional teams and their leaders. The ideal candidate possesses a mix of financial accounting knowledge and knowledge of business processes and will use that knowledge to negotiate and drive alignment across the broader Finance and Accounting organization and cross functional partners.
Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage, from start to finish, the income reporting process (e.g. 1099, state tax withholding) and partner with multiple business units to achieve this objective
  • Assist with various aspects of the tax life cycle including the quarterly financial closes, return-to-provision, tax form corrections, monthly ICR reporting, quarterly state reporting, state tax withholding, and annual IRS tax filings for 1099's and other required federal and state tax forms
  • Perform reconciliations on large data sets and identify variances to resolve imbalances
  • Stay abreast important IRS tax knowledge and changes at the Federal and State level for 1099's, 1042-S, 3921, ICR, and other required tax forms and reporting
  • Identify, design, and build technology-driven solutions that enable critical initiatives and operational improvements, including the optimization of our current ERP and integrated tax systems
  • Responsible for performing detailed requirements analysis, documenting processes and performing user acceptance testing; develop and maintain process and support documentation for tax software applications
  • Evaluate business process and anticipate requirements, uncovering areas for improvement and implementing solutions
  • Attain expert knowledge of the financial applications supported by the team
  • Understand NBCU business processes requirements by engaging with business partners at enterprise and division level
  • Collaborate with vendors to ensure products, services, and supportability are optimized
  • Collaborate and communicate with other team members and/or outside consultants on projects
  • Act as a liaison to both internal and external customers, expected to interface with Business Users for requirements analysis, training, support, etc
  • Investigate problems that occur in the production environment in a quick and timely manner and solve as soon as possible
  • Ensure effective management of assigned deliveries (operational perspective) via the use of detailed plans and proactive liaison with all affected parties ensuring that any delays, risks or issues are escalated for resolution in a timely and clearly understood manner
  • Perform administrative functions for tax technology solutions such as quarterly SOX reviews, Risk Management Reviews, UAR, and DR testing


Qualifications
Qualifications:

  • Experience with A/P, Income (1099) Reporting, and other Tax processes
  • 5+ years experience in the technology, media, or similar enterprise-level industries with a proven track record in successful project management with cross-functional teams
  • 5+ years experience in a role demonstrating strong technical, quantitative, and analytical skills
  • 5+ years in business analysis, strategic analysis roles
  • Experience leading business requirements gathering and translating those into system requirements
  • Experience facilitating business process design
  • Strong understanding of Accounting and Finance fundamentals
  • Candidate must be an active learner that is detail oriented and a proven self-starter with the ability to multi-task, prioritize responsibilities, problem solve, work in a fast-paced and time-sensitive environment, and complete work timely and accurately with minimal supervision
  • Ability to communicate at all levels with clarity and precision, both written and verbally, and tailor to audience to achieve desired results
  • Strong desire to learn and implement technological solutions. Courage to explore unfamiliar territory. Demonstrates curiosity to learn. Self-starter to work independently, with strong organizational and flexibility skills in a team-oriented environment.
  • Extensive knowledge and demonstrated experience with project management processes, SDLC, Agile, organizational change management concepts, and business process improvement methods
  • Knowledge of Taxport (or other tax reporting software) and SAP a plus
  • Bachelors or higher in Computer Science, Information Systems, Accounting, Business, Economics, or Commerce from an accredited institution
  • At least 5 years of experience in managing mid-to-large financial applications in different environments
  • Experience with coordinating and interfacing between onshore and offshore teams
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective work relationships with co-workers, clients, members, providers, and customers
  • Willingness to work off business hours and weekends as needed in a demanding environment when special projects are due
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially advanced skills in Excel (Word, Excel, Visio, Project)
  • Must be able to work in the 100 Universal City Plaza Office minimum of 3 days per week


Salary Range: $110,000-$130,000
