Director, Inventory Accounting

We are looking for an experienced Director of Inventory Accounting to join our Accounting and Finance team! This individual will have the opportunity to greatly impact and improve processes within our fast-growing e-commerce business. Additionally, we are open to relocation for this role.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead all aspects of the inventory accounting process, including costing and control for both high volume merchandised inventory and manufactured inventory for thousands of skus
- Oversee and improve the month-end close of inventory and COGS
- Oversee inventory/costing module of ERP design implementation
- Support the warehouse management system implementation
- Supervise and grow the inventory accounting team as needed to scale
- Collaborate with the warehouses, merchandising, and accounts payable teams on processes design and improvement to ensure proper accounting and reporting for the current business and future growth
- Work with the fulfillment team to improve inventory control process
- Partner with warehouse and operations during quarterly physical inventory count process
- Ensure proper and accurate classification of inventory and costs
- Oversee the preparation of and review monthly roll forwards, journal entries, reconciliations and reporting for inventory deposits, accruals, obsolescence, cost of goods sold, and analysis, KPI’s and ratios
- Ensure compliance with GAAP accounting, performing research as needed
- Prepare/review schedules and support for audit requests and other executive reporting requests
- Lead and support departmental and organizational strategic initiatives to support fast-paced growth
What You'll Bring:
- 15+ years of relevant cost accounting experience, including 3+ years of director level experience
- Vast understanding of and experience working with warehouse and fulfillment operations
- Experience leading and developing a team of 3+ employees of different levels
- Extensive warehouse and inventory systems implementation experience
- Thorough and complete knowledge of full cycle inventory accounting
- Experience with product inventory (both purchased and manufactured) levels exceeding $100M and 5K plus skus
- Someone who can work and lead in a rapid growth and entrepreneurial environment
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing to all levels of the organization, including senior executive team
- Ability to think critically and research adhoc accounting or operational issues
- Have the strategic experience, vision and leadership skills to scale with the business
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance or related field

- Experience with Looker, or other BI systems
- Experience with working with data science and BI teams to build reports
- International manufacturing experience
