The Global Finance Director/CFO is responsible for advising senior leaders on financial performance and driving results across a global and matrixed organization. Reporting to the DV Managing Partner and working closely with DV’s COO with a dotted line reporting to BCG Global Finance Functions, the Finance Director/CFO will be a key business partner for the leadership team, analyzing and advising across DV’s finance functions (Commercial, FP&A and Investing). This person will be responsible for ensuring the appropriate finance controls and policies are in place across the organization, and should be a trusted advisor to our partners during commercial negotiations. This person will also nurture and develop DV’s finance team, and evolve the function to meet the unique needs of our business and teams. Role is MDP eligible.

Manhattan Beach, CA is the preferred location.

 In this role you will:

  • Provide business partnering and strategy support
    • Partner with the DV Managing Partner, DV COO and DV Managing Directors and Partners in all locations and the global finance function to provide insight to support timely business decisions, identify potential options and addressing needs for management reporting and analysis
    • Provide strategic commercial support and advice on specific project economics, complicated alternative fee arrangements and pricing tradeoffs and approaches
    • Ensure partnering with BCG Finance teams to ensure proper understanding and impact of investments and pricing decisions
    • Take on additional strategy and business model assignments to assess and define new operating models and approaches as the business evolves
    • As needed, support the Managing Partner in priority setting and work planning to support decision making, DV EC and Board presentations and discussions
  • Plan, report and analyze
    • Work with COO and DV Region Leads to articulate long-term financial goals and targets and prepare the annual plan, long range plans and regular re-estimates
    • Be proactive in determining the impact of variances on the annual plan, recommending remedial actions and provide timely, meaningful financial reporting
    • Responsible for oversight of the CAPEX budgets, working closely with global Real Estate team and IT Team as appropriate
  • Advise on capital business
    • Analyze and manage financial due diligence process for investment proposals
    • Advise finance, accounting and payroll operating model set up for new businesses and policies & procedures to support business and mitigate risk
  • Liaese with BCG shared services
    • Be the point of contact to BCG Controllers in regards of financial matters and define portfolio of services and implementation/on-going performance with BCG Shared Services
  • Oversee accounting and administrative processes
    • Supervise the regional finance teams to ensure that local practices comply with BCG policies and local requirements, including accounting functions
    • Implement best practices in client contracting, billings and collections
    • Team with payroll shared services provided by BCG to ensure controls and processes for new hires, terminations, transfers, senior advisor arrangements
  • Own risk Management, working with the functions
    • Responsibility to ensure appropriate finance controls are in place across DV organization
    • Assist in client negotiations and contracting directly or through teaming with appropriate experts, ensuring enforcement and adaptation of WW policies and maintain tight linkage to legal team
    • Monitor cross border activity and address related tax and legal issues and oversight of activities to proactively flag potential issues
  • Provide leadership and people development
    • Ensure a talented and cohesive finance team and lead, coach and develop direct reports
    • Optimize the finance support model (where appropriate) and evolve the operating model to support continued growth and continual improvement in support of the overall business

You should have:

  • Significant experience working in a Finance function of a multinational firm, including international and complex business analysis or Financial controller experience including experience in general accounting, planning and analysis, tax and treasury, financial systems, financial reporting, preferably with exposure to both the management of these processes and hands on involvement
  • Minimum of 15+ years’ experience in a similar finance leadership role, across multiple finance functions, ideally in a professional services environment
  • Hands-on experience with general ledger systems, budgets and financial planning and analysis processes
  • Operated at a senior level for at least 5 years
  • Prior experience setting vision and direction for finance functions, developing and implementing objectives for the function and organization
  • Proven ability to successfully drive change and impact across a global matrixed organization and be a trusted thought partner to senior leadership
  • Strong systemic thinking; a data driven decision maker who is able to find root cause of issues, identify second and third order impacts and work across the organization to engender change
  • Proven ability to manage priorities among multiple stakeholders, multi-task and re-prioritize as needed in fast moving environment
  • Able to work with highly dynamic culture and is comfortable with ambiguity and working independently
  • High integrity; experience working with sensitive and confidential situations; track record of building strong trust and confidence with business leaders and teams.
