Team and Role Overview

The Accounting team plays a critical role in business. Here at Relativity, the team collects and maintains the business’s financial activities in accordance with US GAAP, which ensures the ability to provide accurate financial reports for strategic planning and decision-making purposes as well as quarterly reports to investors and lending institutions.

To support the growth of the company, as the Accountant, you will be an essential addition to the accounting team. You will be reporting to the Financial Controller and providing assistance on month-end closes, account reconciliations, accounts payable, sales/use tax reporting, internal/external audits, general bookkeeping, and other projects as assigned.

The Mission/Outcomes and Objectives

We want to send 3-D printed rockets to space! To help the company achieve this mission/goal, we need to make sure that our financial reports are accurate and that our spending is on track. You will ensure that the business’s financial activities are recorded correctly and vendor payments are processed according to the payment terms established with vendors. The result of your work will ensure compliance and provide the groundwork for greater financial strategies.

In order to support the day-to-day efforts needed for proper financial data processing and month-end closing, you must be able to demonstrate your knowledge in double-entry accrual accounting. During month-end close, you will be preparing monthly standard journal entries and performing reconciliations such as fixed assets, prepaid expenses, credit cards, and other balance sheet accounts. You will need to have moderate familiarity with GAAP and understanding on processes and workflows in order to succeed in this role.

We expect you to have high integrity, a "can-do" attitude, teachability, and good communication skills. You enjoy learning and growing and have a team player mindset. You are not afraid of challenges and have a track record of meeting deadlines and taking a proactive approach to your work. Ideally, you have past involvements in external audit(s), ERP implementation, and process automation. Space manufacturing industry background is a plus.

An Insider's view of Relativity Space

What’s the vibe like in the office?

Our office is very interesting--from the large and colorful art pieces on the walls to the large (and small) rocket parts all over. We also have screens all over that are casting live streams of our testing and manufacturing floor. You just feel like you are seeing the future of manufacturing unfold right before your eyes.

What is your vision for the company?

We are creating an entirely re-imagined process to iterate and scale rockets quickly, eventually helping to build the future of humanity in space.

What are some things you learned at the company?

I've never been at a company before that has so valued recruiting and the candidate experience in all stages of the interview process, from initial contact to even past onboarding. Everyone here respects each others' time and takes hiring very seriously. We have a high bar, but that means we've also cultivated a very talented team!
