About the company
Our client is a defense technology company.
The role
Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Own the electrical design of power and drive hardware for demanding electronic systems, working hands-on in the lab. Partner with software, systems and controls colleagues to get boards designed, built, tested and tuned quickly.
What you'll do
- Design power distribution and conversion circuits, including battery management, regulation and protection.
- Own the drive electronics for motor-driven actuators, from the power stage and current measurement to commutation and position feedback inputs.
- Collaborate with embedded software, systems and controls engineers to integrate hardware and tune systems on the bench.
- Produce schematics, board layouts and bring-up procedures for analog and digital circuitry.
- Lead electromagnetic compatibility design and validation, including clean power delivery, grounding and mitigation approaches.
- Build test setups and validation procedures, and carry out debugging, integration and environmental testing.
- Help define electrical design standards that let the hardware scale to higher production volumes.
Requirements
What we're looking for
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- At least 5 years designing circuits and power electronics, ideally in aerospace, defense, automotive or robotics.
- Track record designing power systems for demanding hardware applications.
- Experience designing brushless motor drives, including power stages, gate drivers, current measurement and noise control on high-current buses.
- Solid PCB layout ability, with a whole-system view of electromagnetic compatibility and signal integrity.
- Practical lab experience debugging hardware and bringing up new boards.
- Comfort with fast build-and-test iterations in an early-stage setting where little exists yet.
- Daily use of AI tools in your engineering workflow.
- Ability to work fully on-site.
Bonus points
- Background in other high-performance sectors such as automotive, motorsport, robotics or electric vehicles.
- Familiarity with FPGA interfaces.
- Experience qualifying hardware against environmental test standards such as DO-160.
