ECOMMERCE PRODUCT COPYWRITER

REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR, ECOMMERCE

The Product Copywriter is responsible for sourcing, developing, and composing product descriptions for all product categories: footwear including cowboy boots and work boots; apparel including western wear, workwear, and contemporary fashion; home décor; gifts, and accessories including cowboy hats, luggage, jewelry, belts, and boot care product. This role requires someone who is proactive with strong organizational skills who can communicate detailed product information through direct and concise written content. Each workday, the Product Copywriter is responsible for sourcing all product details and ensuring the product set up and maintenance on the website is complete with all product descriptions, attributes, site tags, tech features, and other product related items.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys data entry and who is eager to learn the correct terminology for describing retail products.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Write product descriptions for all new products
  • Ensure all products are described accurately and completely, including product names, product descriptions (material content, neckline, etc.), and product tags
  • Source all product details either by using in-house product samples or sourcing details digitally through internal line sheets, vendor B2B sites, ecommerce sites, catalogs, and/or researching independently when needed
  • Develop an understanding of all Boot Barn products
  • Produce and upload copy to retailer portal daily, meeting deadlines, ensuring accuracy, and maintaining brand style
  • Maintain consistency in writing, formatting, and flow throughout the website according to product copy guidelines
  • Incorporate AI into product copy creation when needed
  • Proofread and self-edit product descriptions for grammar, spelling, detail accuracy, usage, and style, adhering to the Boot Barn copy style guide
  • Responsible for item set up and copy updates to existing product data
  • Develop cross-functional partnerships
  • Collaborate with e-commerce team, item setup team, buyers, and site merchandisers when needed to ensure all product content is sourced, created, and loaded when the product is available for sale
  • Manage own workload and deadlines in conjunction with team meetings and side projects
  • Consistently meet daily production and quality goals
  • Ensure your work is always on tone, on brand, and on time
  • Update existing product data, item tags, tech features, and titles when needed; conducting site audits when needed
  • Consistently review accuracy of filters and tags and perform ongoing competitor analysis
  • Report on weekly progress
  • Additional site support as needed
  • Demonstrates high level of quality work, attendance and appearance.
  • Demonstrates high degree of professionalism in communication, attitude and teamwork with customers, peers and management.
  • Adhere to all local, federal and state laws in addition to Company policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Performs any other duties that may be assigned by management.

  • Basic Microsoft Office Suite proficiency (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Ability to learn and use internal web/publishing/inventory tools and applications
  • Ability to pass a writing test

PAY RANGE: $25.00 - $28.00*

*compensation varies based on geography, skills, experience, and tenure
