Supports the Joint Targeting Platform as a SkillBridge intern and targeting subject matter expert. Responsibilities include translating Army, Joint, and Coalition operational needs into software requirements; documenting SOPs, CONOPS, TTPs, user stories, and system artifacts; identifying data integrations; supporting training, demonstrations, working groups, briefings, and analytical reports; and advising engineering teams on targeting and warfighter use cases.

RII is seeking a transitioning service member to join our CJADC2 team as a SkillBridge Intern to prototype and produce hardware that solves unique, real-world problems. You will work directly in the lab alongside engineering leads to bridge the gap between initial prototypes and field-ready units. You will be expected to support high-stakes manufacturing processes and uphold strict quality controls to support one of RII's most successful core values: Get s#it done.
This position requires a Secret clearance with a Top Secret with SCI preferred.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
- Provide subject matter expertise supporting the of the Joint Targeting Platform
- Use your understanding of staff roles, functions and organizational structures, including Targeting Working Group and Decision Board functions, to support systems engineering activities driving the development of novel software capabilities to support the warfighter
- Work with user organizations and operational units to understand Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Concept of Operations (CONOPS) and TTPs that enable the user to make effective use of the prototype solution
- Capture user stories, customer use cases, and draft System Engineering artifacts representative of more complex customer/user environments and scenarios
- Identify desired system functionality and validate current and new operational use cases
- Work with Army, Joint, and Coalition units to understand their network, systems and processes; use that understanding to improve software design and TTPs
- Identify unit specific data sources and systems needed to be integrated in the SW baseline
- Assist in training development and user training support
- Participate in working groups, forums, and analytical activities to support larger business line or program objectives
- Create and deliver clear and compelling high-quality briefings, documents, conceptual and analytical reports to customers, and larger project teams
- Develop white papers and concept documents supporting product development and business development activities
- Effectively translate and communicate relevant complex operational/domain information within your team and cross-functionally (eg. engineering teams)
- Provide support for demonstrations as a Targeting SME
WHAT YOU HAVE DONE
- The ideal candidate should have at least 10 years of relevant experience; targeting experience at a Division level or higher
- Served in the military as a senior NCO, Warrant Officer, or Commissioned Officer
- Used strong communication skills to effectively interface with military officials, managers, and subordinates
- Knowledgeable of Army and Joint Targeting doctrine
- Experience with Army Tactical systems and relevant joint fires systems (ie. MSS, JADOCS)
- Served in a leadership or technical position at a DIV/BCT or higher; preferably with Joint experience
- Must have strong planning, problem solving, analytical, organizational, and leadership skills
- Experience gathering, analyzing, and presenting facts using the appropriate data collection and dissemination tools/techniques
- Possesses a thorough knowledge of applicable complex operational mission areas and program requirements
- Must be able to work independently with limited oversight and function effectively as part of a geographically separated team
- Must have experience developing Tactics, Techniques and Procedures, Standard Operating Procedures or other process documents
- Experience performing tasks with Microsoft productivity software and applications
EVEN BETTER
- Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility
- Experience with operating JADOCS and Target Workbench
- Strong understanding of lethal and non-lethal fires coordination
- Experience with C2 / Targeting system capabilities to include AFATDS, MIDB, CPCE, and AIDP
- Knowledge of Army ASCC / CORPS / DIV / BCT Planning and Operations
- Knowledge of Joint Task Force (JTF) Planning and Operations
- Familiar with systems engineering processes for developing/documenting requirements
- Experience leading Targeting Working Groups and/or Decision Boards
