As a Director of Technical Product Ownership (US-remote), you will join a diverse, passionate team, dedicated to powering the world’s payments ecosystem!

The primarily responsibilities of the Director of Technical Product Ownership is responsible for driving the technical product strategy and execution of ACI’s bill payment products and platforms. This leader will build and lead a high-performing team of Technical Product Owners that translate product strategy into scalable platform capabilities delivered through modern SaaS development practices. Working closely with engineering, architecture, and product management, this role ensures the platform evolves to support the growing demands of billers, partners and consumers while delivering reliable, secure, high-scale and best in class payment experiences. 

The Director of Technical Product Ownership will lead and scale a high-performing team responsible for delivering the platform capabilities that power ACI’s bill payment solutions. Operating at the intersection of technical product strategy and engineering execution, this leader ensures complex capabilities are translated into clear technical direction, well-defined product requirements, and predictable delivery through modern product development practices.

This role is critical to advancing ACI’s bill payment platform, shaping the technical product strategy that enables scalable, reliable, and secure payment experiences for partners, billers, and consumers. The Director will drive alignment across product management, engineering, architecture, and operations to ensure the platform evolves to meet the demands of a rapidly growing payments ecosystem.

This role focuses on technical product strategy and platform delivery, partnering closely with product leaders who own market strategy, customer outcomes, and the commercial roadmap.


The role of a Director of Technical Product Ownership includes:

  • Build and lead a high-performing team of Technical Product Owners responsible for platform delivery across ACI’s bill payment ecosystem.
  • Define and drive the technical product strategy that underpins the bill payment platform, ensuring alignment with product vision, platform architecture, and commercial priorities.
  • Translate strategic initiatives into scalable platform capabilities, technical product requirements, and prioritized delivery roadmaps.
  • Partner with engineering and architecture leadership to ensure solutions are designed for scalability, resilience, security, and operational efficiency.
  • Establish and enforce best practices for product ownership, backlog management, and Agile delivery across multiple engineering teams.
  • Ensure platform capabilities support the full bill payment lifecycle, including bill presentment, payment orchestration, settlement, reconciliation, reporting, and operational workflows.
  • Drive delivery discipline and operational rigor to improve predictability, quality, and velocity of product delivery.
  • Foster strong cross-functional collaboration with product management, engineering, architecture, operations, and go-to-market teams to ensure successful product launches and platform adoption.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience needed to succeed in this role: 

  • 10+ years of experience in product ownership, technical product management, or related roles delivering complex technology platforms

  • Proven experience leading and developing high-performing Technical Product Owner or product delivery teams

  • Strong background in payments, fintech, or financial services platforms, including bill payment, payment processing, settlement, reconciliation, and reporting workflows

  • Demonstrated experience delivering and scaling cloud-based, API-driven, SaaS platforms in high-volume, high-availability transaction environments

  • Deep understanding of modern product development practices, including Agile delivery frameworks, backlog strategy, and cross-team execution models

  • Strong technical acumen with the ability to partner effectively with engineering and architecture leaders on platform design, scalability, security, and resiliency

  • Proven ability to translate strategic initiatives into scalable platform capabilities, technical requirements, and prioritized delivery roadmaps

  • Excellent cross-functional collaboration, communication, and stakeholder influence skills across product, engineering, architecture, and operations.

  • Proven ability to build, lead, and develop high-performing product ownership teams within complex technology organizations.

  • Strong focus on execution rigor, delivery predictability, and continuous improvement in product development processes


Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Experience needed for this role: 

  • Direct experience with bill payment platforms or large-scale payment ecosystems

  • Experience modernizing or scaling legacy payment or financial services platforms

  • Hands-on experience with real-time payments, ACH, card networks, and emerging payment rails

  • Familiarity with event-driven architectures, microservices, and headless or API-first platform designs

  • Experience operating in highly regulated environments requiring strong reliability, compliance, and operational rigor

  • Background working in global, matrixed technology organizations

  • Strong executive presence with experience communicating technical product strategy and delivery outcomes to senior leadership
