Located directly across from the University of Miami, THesis sits at the intersection of hospitality, culture, education, business, wellness and the Miami lifestyle. With a vibrant food and beverage program, compelling social spaces and an experience that extends well beyond the traditional hotel stay, THesis has the ingredients to attract corporate travelers, university business, groups, meetings, celebrations, leisure guests and the local community.

The Director of Sales will own the hotel’s sales strategy and be accountable for driving top line revenue, market share and profitable growth across corporate, group, transient, catering, business travel and leisure segments. Reporting directly to the General Manager and working closely with Pyramid Global Hospitality’s commercial leadership, this person will be expected to think strategically while remaining deeply involved in selling.

We want a leader who is visible in the market, relentless about prospecting and excited to tell the THesis story. Someone who knows Miami and South Florida, understands where the business is coming from and is constantly looking for the next opportunity.

What You’ll Own

• Drive the business. Develop and execute an ambitious sales strategy focused on revenue growth, market share and profitability while continually identifying new demand generators and untapped opportunities.

• Be the hotel’s chief sales ambassador. Get out into the market, build relationships and make THesis top of mind with corporate decision makers, meeting planners, travel managers, universities, healthcare organizations, entertainment and sports partners, associations and key local businesses.

• Own the University of Miami opportunity. Leverage THesis Hotel’s exceptional location across from UM to deepen relationships and capture demand connected to university departments, athletics, academics, alumni, visiting families, events, conferences and university partners.

• Prospect relentlessly. Build a robust pipeline through proactive outreach, networking, sales calls, market visits, industry events and creative business development. This role is about generating opportunities, not waiting for them.

• Sell the entire THesis experience. Position the hotel not simply as a place to stay, but as a lifestyle destination where hospitality, food and beverage, social experiences and Miami culture come together.

• Turn food and beverage into a commercial advantage. Work collaboratively with the hotel’s culinary and F&B teams to leverage its restaurant, bar, event and social experiences as differentiators for groups, corporate clients, celebrations and local partnerships.

• Win the right business. Identify and secure high value corporate accounts, group opportunities, meetings, university demand, sports business, social business, associations, government and SMERF segments while building a healthier and more diversified revenue mix.

• Build strategic partnerships. Create meaningful relationships throughout Coral Gables, Miami and South Florida that generate room nights, events, dining demand, brand awareness and repeat business.

• Lead from the front. Inspire, coach and hold the sales team accountable to ambitious goals while creating a culture of urgency, creativity, collaboration and results.

• Think commercially. Partner closely with Revenue Management, Marketing, Operations and Food & Beverage to align pricing, positioning, need periods, promotions, programming and sales strategy.

• Know the numbers. Own forecasting, pace, account production, pipeline management, market intelligence and sales performance, turning insights into action quickly.

• Think like an owner. Understand not only how to generate revenue, but which business delivers the greatest value to the hotel and how sales decisions impact profitability.

• Be everywhere THesis should be. Represent the hotel throughout the Miami and Coral Gables business communities, tourism organizations, industry associations, networking events and strategic partnerships.

Who We’re Looking For

We are looking for a commercially driven hospitality sales leader with personality, presence and hustle.

You are naturally curious about where the next piece of business will come from. You enjoy opening doors, building relationships and closing business. You understand that exceptional sales leadership happens both behind the numbers and out in the market.

The ideal candidate brings strong hotel sales experience, a proven record of driving corporate and group revenue, excellent account management and negotiation skills, and a deep understanding of the South Florida market.

Experience and relationships within Miami, Coral Gables, higher education, healthcare, corporate travel, meetings and events, sports, entertainment and lifestyle hospitality are particularly valuable.

Most importantly, you bring an entrepreneurial mindset. You see possibilities others miss, move quickly when opportunities emerge and are motivated by ambitious revenue goals.

Why THesis?

THesis is more than a hotel. It is a gathering place for travelers, the University of Miami community, local residents, businesses, food lovers and Miami itself.

For the right Director of Sales, that creates an unusually exciting platform. You are not selling four walls and guest rooms. You are selling a destination, a lifestyle, a culinary experience, a community and a hotel with enormous potential to capture even more of the Miami market.

This is an opportunity to build business, shape strategy, lead a team and leave your mark on the next chapter of THesis Hotel Miami.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
