About the Role:

Dr. Squatch is looking for a Director of Brand Marketing to lead strategic partnerships, licensing and limited-edition development, along with influencer marketing and integrated campaigns that build cultural relevance and drive business growth.

Reporting to the VP of Marketing, this people leader will bring a strong point of view on the partners, talent and ideas that belong in the Dr. Squatch brand. You’ll connect with Gen Z while strengthening our appeal to core millennial consumers, and turn cultural insights into memorable campaigns across digital channels and real-world experiences.

The ideal candidate combines sound brand judgment with hands-on execution. You can recognize a breakout idea, build its business case and lead the complex work required to bring it to market.

This is a full-time, hybrid role with company benefits, based in Marina Del Rey, CA.
The anticipated base compensation range for this role will be $150,000 to $195,000. Compensation will be commensurate with the candidate's experience and local market rates.

What You'll Do:

  • Brand Strategy and Cultural Relevance
    • Translate brand and business priorities into a focused partnership and campaign roadmap that recruits new households and strengthens consumer engagement.
    • Bring an informed point of view on entertainment, sports, music, gaming and lifestyle. Distinguish lasting audience relevance from a short-lived trend.
    • Evaluate opportunities against audience fit, brand distinctiveness, cultural impact and commercial potential. Protect Dr. Squatch’s voice and humor across every collaboration.
  • Partnerships Licensing and Limited Editions
    • Lead the partnership pipeline from idea and outreach through evaluation, negotiation, activation and renewal, working with Legal and Finance on deal terms and economics.
    • Develop compelling collaboration and limited-edition concepts with Product and Creative, connecting the partner to the product, fragrance and consumer experience.
    • Manage licensor and partner relationships, rights, usage terms and approval workflows. Coordinate launch timing with product readiness and commercial opportunities.
  • Integrated Campaigns and Celebrity Talent
    • Lead complex campaigns from brief and creative development through production, launch and evaluation, integrating digital content with events and experiential activations.
    • Manage celebrity-focused campaigns with talent teams and agencies, including deliverables, production needs, approvals and usage rights.
    • Partner with Creative, Paid Media, Shopper Marketing, PR and Commerce teams to connect campaign storytelling with retail, DTC, Amazon and social commerce activation.
  • Influencer Strategy and Earned Attention
    • Lead influencer strategy across organic advocacy, paid partnerships and creator amplification. Select talent for audience relevance, creative credibility and performance.
    • Develop earned-media opportunities with PR partners and translate cultural moments into stories and experiences people want to share.
  • Team Leadership Operations and Measurement
    • Manage and develop the team, set clear priorities and provide direct feedback. Hold agencies and partners accountable for the quality and delivery of their work.
    • Own program budgets and maintain detailed timelines, deliverables and approval plans. Anticipate dependencies and resolve risks before they disrupt execution.
    • Define objectives and KPIs with channel owners. Evaluate audience growth, engagement, earned attention and commercial results, and use findings to improve future investment.
    • Present recommendations and results clearly to leadership, connecting the strategic opportunity to the execution details and financial implications.

About You:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in brand marketing, partnerships or integrated marketing, including experience managing and developing people.
  • A demonstrated track record of breakout campaigns and collaborations for culturally relevant consumer brands, with a clear account of your role and measurable results.
  • Experience managing licensing partnerships and limited-edition launches, including deal evaluation, rights management and partner approvals.
  • Proven experience with celebrity talent and influencer programs, including earned and paid strategies, content production and amplification.
  • A strong understanding of Gen Z and millennial consumers, and the judgment to connect cultural opportunities to a brand’s identity and business priorities.
  • Experience delivering complex campaigns across digital channels and real-world experiences, coordinating agencies and multiple internal teams.
  • Strong analytical and financial skills. You can build a business case, manage budgets and turn performance data into actionable decisions.
  • Exceptional organization and attention to detail, with the ability to maintain strategic perspective while staying close to execution.
  • A collaborative, decisive leadership style and the confidence to advocate for an idea, challenge a weak fit and help teams move forward.
  • A genuine enthusiasm for Dr. Squatch’s products, humor and consumers, and curiosity about the cultural communities shaping their lives.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
