About Project Eleven

Project Eleven is an applied lab of builders and technologists working at the intersection of quantum computing and cryptography. We build impactful solutions that push the digital-asset ecosystem to a more secure future. Our focus is post-quantum migration: upgrading wallets, identity, and settlement rails to quantum-safe primitives without breaking UX, composability, and developer workflows.

Our mission is to future-proof digital assets and preserve self-sovereignty in a post-quantum world. We do that by building the canonical tooling and products teams can adopt: crypto-agile infrastructure, reference implementations, and integrations that fit real constraints like latency, cost, compatibility, key rotation, and recovery.

We work with leading ecosystems to make this migration real through products we build, audits, testnets, and cutting edge research. The vision we have is clear: a proven upgrade path, production-ready tooling and users retaining control of their assets and identity, before a cryptographically-relevant quantum computer exists.

The Role

We are looking for a strategic and experienced Design Lead to help define and execute the product design and brand vision at Project Eleven. You will be a key partner in shaping the UX/UI of our products and ensuring that what we build is intuitive and aligned with real user needs.

Along with working directly on our products, you will have the opportunity to shape and guide the Project Eleven brand. You will work directly with the executive team to define our brand, visual language, and style that will unify our products and external comms.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys operating in ambiguity, moving quickly, and evolving their thinking as new information emerges.

What You'll Be Responsible For:
  • Act as a thought partner on product design by contributing to product strategy and user experience direction

  • Apply best-in-class UI/UX design principles to create high-quality Figma designs, prototypes, and user flows that engineering can implement with clarity

  • Work closely with the product lead and engineering to ensure design intent is preserved from concept through production

  • Partner with the exec team to help conceive and evolve a cohesive brand and visual identity across product, web, documentation, and external communications

  • Conduct user research, usability testing, and feedback synthesis to iterate designs based on qualitative and quantitative insights

  • Contribute to product planning and roadmap discussions from a design perspective

  • Operate comfortably in a high-ambiguity environment, moving fast with imperfect information, and pivoting direction as new insights emerge

What You Bring
  • 5+ years of experience in product design, UX/UI, or related roles

  • A deep understanding of user-centered design principles, interaction design patterns, and accessibility

  • Opinionated taste paired with a practical mindset for shipping high-quality work under time constraints

  • Expert proficiency with Figma, including prototyping and responsive design

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to translate complex concepts in simple designs

  • Low ego, high ownership mindset comfortable with early-stage startup environments

What We’d Love to See
  • Experience designing for a crypto native audience

  • Experience leading the brand creation/re-definition process in an organization

  • Experience collaborating closely with product and engineering leadership in early-stage or zero-to-one environments

  • A love for marrying deeply technical concepts with delightful user experiences

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
