We are seeking a Security Engineering/Operation Intern to join our Security Engineering and Operations team. This role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in safeguarding complex systems while working with experienced security professionals. The intern will contribute to our mission of ensuring data protection and fostering a security-first culture, gaining valuable insights into security engineering, cloud operations, and automation.

Join a team where security is not an afterthought—it’s a critical part of how we build and scale our business. This internship offers the unique opportunity to work alongside seasoned security engineers and gain exposure to real-world challenges in defending complex systems and infrastructure.

What you'll get to do:

  • Assist in monitoring, configuring, and maintaining security tools such as SIEMs, endpoint protection platforms, and vulnerability scanners.
  • Investigate and triage security alerts by analyzing logs and system activity across cloud and on-prem environments.
  • Support the incident response process by documenting findings and aiding in containment or remediation steps.
  • Automate repetitive security tasks by developing and maintaining scripts or playbooks using Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Participate in reviews of infrastructure and cloud configurations to identify misconfigurations or policy violations.
  • Contribute to improving and maintaining security documentation, including SOPs, detection rules, and runbooks.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on security-related initiatives to support secure development and operations practices.

You should apply if you have most of this experience:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with core security concepts such as authentication, encryption, and common attack techniques.
  • Exposure to security tooling in areas like log analysis, endpoint protection, or vulnerability management.
  • Ability to script or automate tasks using languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Comfort working in both Linux and Windows environments.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a desire to understand complex systems.
  • Clear communicator with a collaborative mindset and a willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
