Own enterprise customer relationships and the day-to-day success of AI engineering deployments. Partner with customers and field deployment engineers to resolve issues, prioritize work, capture use cases, shape product roadmaps, and drive account expansion. The role requires technical and commercial fluency, direct experience with enterprise AI deployments, and substantial customer-site travel.

TL;DR: If you:

  • are insatiably curious about industrial customer engineering use cases;

  • enjoy acting as the conduit between customer use case discovery and rapid product feature building;

  • have owned complex AI deployments for enterprise customers;

  • are technically fluent, commercially minded, and know how to grow customer accounts…

… you should apply for this role!

About P-1 AI:

At P-1 AI, we are building an AI engineer agent for the physical world named Archie. We maximize Archie’s anthropomorphism so that he fits seamlessly into existing engineering teams and workflows in the form factor of a human engineer. Archie today is at the level of a junior mechanical and electrical engineer, with quantitative intuition over the product design space and the ability to use complex engineering tools—the same tools his human teammates use. Archie's tech stack includes a custom agentic harness, structured design representation, continual skills learning, and small custom post-trained models (SFT and RLVR) using proprietary semi-synthetic training datasets and environments that create a deep competitive moat. Our ultimate aim is to build engineering ASI. We recently announced a $50 million Series A financing led by NEA, which added former General Electric CEO Jeff Immelt to our board. The round also included several AI luminaries from Anthropic and Nominal alongside our existing angel investors from Google and OpenAI.

About the opportunity:

As a AI Deployment Manager, you will own the discovery, success, and growth of P-1 AI’s customer relationships.

Our industrial customers are introducing an entirely new kind of worker into their engineering organizations: an AI engineer. There is no playbook for this yet and we want you to help build it.

You'll work with customers to find where Archie can have the most impact, then work alongside our FDEs to make those deployments successful.

About the role:

  • Own the day-to-day success of deployments, working with customers and FDEs to unblock issues, manage priorities, and make sure Archie is delivering peak value.

  • Capture customer feedback and emergent use cases in formal specifications to directly drive feature implementation and product development.

  • Serve as a voice of the customer in internal product roadmapping and prioritization discussions.

  • Drive customer expansion by finding the next teams and use cases for Archie within existing accounts and across industry.

  • Spend considerable time on-site with customers and key stakeholders.

About you:

  • Experience in customer-facing roles with direct responsibility for AI deployments to enterprise customers.

  • Equally comfortable diving into the technical details of a customer use case or engineering tool use pattern, and how it translates into commercial value for a customer.

  • Thrive in a face paced environment, preferably with experience at a fast-growing startup.

  • Willingness to spend approximately 25% of time at customer sites, increasing to 50-60% during discovery, deployment, and other critical phases.

  • Direct experience and domain knowledge in data center engineering, automotive, or aerospace and defense is a plus.

Location:

Remote (US/Canada) or in-office in San Mateo, CA. Remote employees spend one week out of six working together in our San Mateo office. Relocation support available.

Compensation & Benefits:

Competitive base salary, material performance based variable bonus, meaningful equity ownership, healthcare, dental, vision, 401(k) match, and unlimited PTO.

Interview process:

  • Introductory call (30 mins)

  • Biographical/behavioural interview (45 mins)

  • Case study interview (60 mins)

  • CEO interview (30 mins)

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
