Tennis Channel is seeking a highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented Coordinator, Channel Operations to support the 24/7/365 operational execution and day-of-air integrity of our expanding portfolio of FAST (Free Ad-Supported Streaming Television) channels, including Tennis Channel 2 and PickleballTV.

Reporting directly to the Manager, FAST Channel Operations, this role serves as an essential operational point of contact responsible for daily playlist preparation, live tournament tracking, metadata accuracy, advertising cue-point verification, and transmission quality control. Because professional tennis operates across global time zones, this position requires full flexibility to work non-traditional hours—including dedicated overnights, early mornings, weekends, and holidays aligned with international tournament coverage.

The ideal candidate thrives in a high-tempo live sports broadcast environment, possesses sharp technical and editorial problem-solving skills, and demonstrates meticulous attention to detail under tight live-to-air deadlines.

This role is onsite and located in Santa Monica, CA.

  • Hours & Shift Structure: 24/7/365 operations coverage. This is a full-time position working dedicated overnight and early-morning shifts, including weekends and holidays, aligned with live tournament windows across worldwide time zones (ATP/WTA global tours, Grand Slams, PPA pickleball).

  •

In this role you will...

Execute Channel Scheduling & Playout

  • Under the direction of the Manager, build, review, maintain, and release accurate daily and multi-day channel playlists utilizing cloud-based playout systems (e.g., Amagi) and traffic schedules.

  • Coordinate playlist timing and media elements for live matches, studio wrap shows, encore telecasts, original programming, and promotional priority blocks.

  • Monitor live-event tournament dynamics—including weather interruptions, match overruns, court assignments, and join-in-progress (JIP) scenarios—and make real-time playlist and log adjustments to maintain schedule integrity.

  • Execute day-of-air programming adjustments and hot-swaps in response to breaking live tournament coverage across domestic and international time zones.

  •

Monitor Channels & Maintain Quality Control

  • Perform active eyes-on-glass monitoring across linear FAST feeds and OTT distribution platforms (e.g., Samsung TV Plus, Roku Channel, Amazon Prime Video, Pluto TV) to ensure uninterrupted playback, audio/video synchronization, pristine picture quality, and compliant closed captioning.

  • Inspect, verify, and quality-check SCTE-35 advertising markers, program segment breaks, and commercial cue points to support monetization accuracy and viewer retention.

  • Conduct pre-air QC on playlists, media files, secondary graphics events, and promotional assets prior to scheduled transmission.

  •

Manage Asset Ingest, Metadata & Partner Coordination

  • Track the intake, processing, segmentation, and technical validation of file-based video assets, confirming media readiness ahead of transmission deadlines.

  • Enter and audit rich program metadata, including titles, synopses, episode numbers, ratings, territorial restrictions, and Electronic Program Guide (EPG) schedules across distribution endpoints.

  • Act as the operational floor contact during live match windows, proactively logging incidents, triaging playout anomalies, and escalating technical issues to Broadcast Operations, Engineering, Playout Vendors, and Platform Support.

  • Adhere to contractual rights windows, territorial blackout rules, and network Standards & Practices guidelines.

  • Handle Operational Administration & Provide Shift Coverage

  • Maintain accurate operational shift logs, discrepancy reports, incident tickets, and daily run sheets.

  • Deliver structured, comprehensive handoffs between operational shifts to ensure continuity across tournament coverage cycles.

  • Follow and uphold standard operating procedures (SOPs) for live event execution, emergency filler routing, and ad-break contingencies.

  •

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of operational experience in FAST, live streaming, broadcast playout, master control, traffic, or digital media operations.

  •

  • Shift Availability: Ability to work dedicated overnight and early-morning shifts, weekends, and holidays in a 24/7/365 live sports environment, matching the global tennis calendar.

  •

  • Technical Proficiency: Hands-on experience working with cloud-based playout automation platforms (e.g., Amagi CLOUDPORT or similar), broadcast CMS, or traffic scheduling systems.

  •

  • Live Operations Aptitude: Demonstrated experience handling live sports or breaking events, with the ability to calculate runtimes, adjust join-in-progress segments, and navigate delay scenarios under tight deadlines.

  •

  • Digital Video & Metadata: Familiarity with broadcast video file specifications, closed captioning formats (608/708, WebVTT), SCTE-35 cue markers, EPG delivery, and content segmentation.

  •

  • Communication & Composure: Strong verbal and written communication skills; proven ability to collaborate effectively across technical, editorial, and commercial teams while maintaining composure during high-pressure live broadcast situations.

  •

  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Teams, SharePoint/OneDrive) and broadcast collaboration tools.

  •

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior direct operational experience with Amagi cloud playout and scheduling workflows.

  • Prior experience supporting 24/7 live-sports FAST channels or AVOD services across major CTV aggregators.

  • Familiarity with major distribution delivery endpoints (Roku, Samsung TV Plus, Amazon Prime Video, Fubo, Apple, etc.).

  • Working knowledge of professional tennis (ATP/WTA tours, tournament structures, time-zone shifts) and pickleball (PPA).

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
