Company Overview

Every year, one million businesses shut down, yet the process remains messy, expensive, and underserved. At SimpleClosure, our mission is to make business shutdowns seamless, compliant, and stress free, because closing a company shouldn’t feel harder than starting one.

We recently raised our $15 million Series A and were named one of Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies of 2025. Backed by top investors and trusted by hundreds of startups, we’re rapidly establishing ourselves as the technology leader in this space. Join us and make an outsized impact as we create innovative solutions for businesses, their teams, and their stakeholders.

Job Overview

We’re hiring a Community & Events Manager to architect and execute how SimpleClosure shows up in real life across the startup ecosystem.

This is not a traditional events or logistics role. It’s a relationship-first, execution-heavy role where events are the medium and brand, trust, and revenue impact are the outcome.

You’ll be responsible for orchestrating everything from high-visibility Tech Week moments to intimate, curated dinners with founders, VCs, lawyers, and operators. When SimpleClosure hosts or co-hosts something, it should feel thoughtful, intentional, and unmistakably premium. People should leave saying, “That was a valuable use of my time and really well done.”

This role sits at the intersection of brand, partnerships, and revenue. The right person will materially shape how SimpleClosure is perceived and will directly influence pipeline, trust, and category leadership.

Reporting to the Head of Marketing, you’ll embed SimpleClosure deeply into the founder, VC, lawyer, and operator communities that matter most to us. You’ll build authentic partnerships across our ecosystem and lead the charge in creating events that partners want to host with us, because they’re creative, valuable, and drive real outcomes for everyone involved.

*Ideal candidates MUST be located in the Los Angeles, San Francisco, or New York City Metro areas.

Responsibilities

Community & Relationship Building: Build and maintain deep, trusted relationships across founder, VC, ECVC, and operator communities in our core markets

  • Act as an ambassador for SimpleClosure, someone partners want to work with and bring into their networks

  • Develop long-term relationships with accelerators, incubators, law firms, banks, and ecosystem platforms

  • Make SimpleClosure top-of-mind as a trusted guide for founders, even before they need our product

Event Strategy & On-the-Ground Execution: Own SimpleClosure’s end-to-end events strategy - from concept to budget to execution to follow-up

  • Lead high-impact industry moments (Tech Week events, conferences, ecosystem activations) where we show up with clarity and confidence

  • Curate intimate, high-signal dinners and gatherings that create real connection and drive pipeline

  • Personally execute events on the ground - this is a hands-on role, not a pass-off role

  • Ensure every event delivers an exceptional brand experience that reflects SimpleClosure’s values and quality bar

Partnership Development & Co-Creation: Build strong, reciprocal relationships with potential partners across our ecosystem

  • Lead the charge in co-hosted and co-sponsored events that partners are excited to participate in

  • Pitch and design creative, differentiated event concepts that drive shared outcomes (brand, pipeline, trust)

  • Work closely with our VC and Lawyer Partnerships leads to support their relationship-building through events

  • Identify and secure larger community sponsorships and long-term partnership opportunities

Content & Storytelling Collaboration

  • Collaborate with our marketing team to turn events into durable content (fireside chats, panels, insights)

  • Help shape conversations that reinforce SimpleClosure’s category leadership and point of view

  • Extend the impact of events beyond the room through thoughtful follow-up and storytelling

Desired Skills and Qualifications
  • A natural relationship-builder who thrives in founder and partner-facing environments

  • Someone who loves both big moments and small, meaningful gatherings

  • A creative operator who can design experiences and execute them flawlessly

  • Comfortable being the connective tissue between partnerships, growth, and brand

  • Energized by building something from scratch and raising the bar for how a company shows up in the ecosystem

  • 4+ years of experience in community building, events, partnerships, or field marketing, ideally in a startup environment

  • Proven ability to build partnerships and pitch co-sponsorship opportunities

  • Strong project management skills and comfort juggling multiple initiatives

  • Willingness to travel frequently

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a natural ability to make people feel welcome and connected

  • Self-motivated and able to work independently

  • Experience using CRM systems for tracking/reporting, HubSpot preferred

What We Offer
  • Compensation: $75,000 - $120,000

  • Unlimited PTO

  • Competitive equity package

  • Employer Covered Medical Benefits

  • Hybrid in Los Angeles, San Francisco, or New York City

  • Two in-person team retreats a year

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
