About Pear Suite

Pear Suite is an early-stage digital health company building software for community-based care. Our care navigation platform equips community health workers, doulas, care navigators, and the organizations that support them with tools to collect, visualize, and act on social determinants of health data. We help community-based organizations, health systems, and government-funded care programs deliver more coordinated, person-centered care.

Why Pear Suite?

We’re a mission-driven team committed to health equity and innovation in community-based care. You’ll thrive here if you’re eager to take initiative, value autonomy, and enjoy building structure where none exists. Join us to build scalable, human-centered technology that empowers frontline workers and improves lives across the U.S.

About the role

We are hiring a Communications Manager to collaborate on Pear Suite's external press strategy and own the content calendar across every channel we use to tell our story. Reporting to the Head of Marketing & Communications, you will source and pitch reporters, develop story angles that connect community health work to the broader healthcare policy conversation, and coordinate the production of webinars, blogs, thought-leadership articles, infographics, and video for publishing across our channels. You are a sharp storyteller with experience developing stories on health-tech, healthcare, and policy reporting — and you understand the Medicare, Medicaid, and Medi-Cal landscape well enough to find the right opportunities.

What you'll do

  • Collaborate with the department lead on Pear Suite's external press strategy.
  • Own the cross-channel content calendar — webinars, blog, thought leadership, infographics, video, and social — and keep it moving as a strong project manager would.
  • Build, maintain, and activate a network of health-tech, healthcare, and policy reporters; pitch stories and land earned-media placements.
  • Develop story angles that connect Pear Suite's work to Medicare, Medicaid, Medi-Cal, social drivers of health, value-based care, and the broader healthcare policy conversation.
  • Brief executives — including the CEO and CTO — for interviews, podcasts, panels, keynotes, and high-stakes media moments.
  • Manage the awards and speaking-application pipeline (industry honors, conferences, RFPs); identify, write, and submit applications.
  • Collaborate with our PR firm to write and edit press releases, executive bylines, op-eds, statements, and responses to inbound press inquiries.
  • Coordinate the production of webinars, video production, infographics, and long-form thought leadership with internal subject-matter experts and external partners.
  • Track and report on earned-media coverage, share of voice, message penetration, and other communications KPIs.
  • Serve as a steward of Pear Suite's voice, brand, and narrative across every channel.

Qualifications

Required

  • 6+ years of experience in communications, public relations, journalism, or policy communications, with at least 5 years in healthcare, health tech, or healthcare policy.
  • Experience at a healthcare PR/comms agency, a health policy organization, a health plan, or a health-tech startup.
  • Strong background in healthcare policy with working knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and Medi-Cal — you can speak fluently to value-based care, social drivers of health, managed-care dynamics, and CMS rule-making.
  • Active, current network of health-tech, healthcare, and policy reporters — and a track record of converting that network into placements.
  • Sharp story instincts. You can read a news cycle and find Pear Suite's place in it.
  • Excellent writer and editor across formats: press releases, executive bylines, op-eds, talking points, and short-form social.
  • Experience briefing executives and supporting them through live media, podcasts, and on-the-record moments.
  • Proven ability to own a multi-channel content calendar end-to-end and deliver on deadline.
  • Strong project-management instincts; comfortable working autonomously in a remote, fast-moving environment.

Preferred

  • Familiarity with the community health workers, doulas, or community-based organizations.
  • Awards and speaking-submission experience.
  • Multimedia skills — comfortable directing a podcast session, customer video, infographic, or short video brief.
  • Experience producing video webinars and events on Zoom or similar platforms.
  • Experience with HubSpot, Slack, Claude, Zoom, Muck Rack, Cision, or similar comms/PR tools.
  • Located in Pacific Time Zone

Benefits and Perks

  • A mission driven culture that values innovation, collaboration and growth
  • Equity: participation in an early-stage company
  • Fully Remote
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Comprehensive Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Health and Wellness Stipend
  • Tech Stipend
  • Co-working Stipend
  • Education and professional development allowance ($1,500 annually)
  • Home office setup stipend

Compensation

  • The salary range for this role is $85,000-$100,000

Compensation Range Disclosure

Pear Suite posts broad salary bands to support pay transparency. The range listed above represents the full compensation band for this role.

While the full band is shown, actual offers within this band are based on a candidate's experience, skills, and internal pay equity. Only a small number of candidates, typically those with highly specialized and directly relevant experience, are placed near the top of the range. Most new hires will fall below the top of the band to allow for long-term progression and growth within the role.

Pear Suite is a fully remote organization so compensation may be adjusted upward for candidates residing in higher-cost labor markets. These geographic adjustments are not reflected in the posted range.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
