At Arceus, we believe the way companies receive legal support is overdue for reinvention.
Legal teams are expected to move faster than ever across commercial, product, privacy, procurement, and operational work, but the tools and delivery models available to them haven't kept pace.
We're building the legal infrastructure layer for modern companies — combining experienced attorneys with intelligent technology to deliver high-quality legal services at the speed growing businesses demand.
Our attorneys don't just practice law; they shape the systems, playbooks, and technology that make every engagement better than the last, turning legal expertise into scalable workflows that redefine how legal work gets done.
If you're excited to help build the future of legal services across the breadth of an in-house legal function, we'd love to meet you.
This is a remote role based anywhere in the U.S.
THE OPPORTUNITYYou’ll handle the variety of a GC seat across multiple companies, and help build the tools that make that work faster. This is a rare chance to help define how technology transforms the delivery of legal services over the next decade.
IDEAL CANDIDATEYou're an attorney who thrives as a trusted partner to fast-moving companies. You've spent years advising tech companies, ideally with real exposure to commercial, product, privacy, and other day-to-day legal grind.
You move fast, give practical advice, and value efficiency over perfection. You lead with empathy and responsiveness and optimize for practical outcomes.
We're especially excited to meet attorneys who've been the sole counsel or first legal hire somewhere. You're comfortable wearing multiple hats, closing multiple agreements per day, and balancing competing priorities.
WHAT YOU’LL OWNYou'll serve as Commercial and Product Counsel and help us scale contract review and legal operations. You'll work directly with customers as an extension of their in-house team, delivering practical, business-first advice. This is a high-responsibility, detail-obsessed role for someone energized by complex systems, sharp execution, and the intersection of law and technology.
Act as an extension of clients’ in-house teams: commercial contracts, regulatory, product, privacy advice, and general legal counseling
Review and negotiate high volumes of commercial agreements on tight turnaround
Flag key obligations, risks, and anomalies clearly enough for business
Turn recurring work into playbooks, templates, and quality standards
Work with product and engineering to make our review platform faster and more accurate
J.D. and active bar membership in good standing
A minimum of 5 years of experience practicing law, with significant experience supporting technology companies; experience as in-house counsel or as a sole legal counsel is required
Generalist across commercial, product, and privacy for SaaS, AI, robotics, or deep tech companies; corporate or employment experience a plus.
A deeply customer-first mindset: responsive, empathetic, low-ego, and committed to delivering practical advice that helps the business move forward
A relentless process mindset: always faster, better, more consistent
Experience with, or real excitement about, AI-assisted legal workflows
Comfortable in a fast-paced, ambiguous, high-ownership environment
Strong grounding in professional responsibility and legal ethics
Excellent written and verbal communication
Hourly rate of $100–$150, based on experience
At least 20 hours per week availability to engage on client matters; expected availability doesn’t guarantee consistent 20 hour engagement
Part-time independent contractor engagement
Opportunity to convert to full-time
