Chief of Staff | Nox Metals | Los Angeles, CA

About Nox Metals. American factories deserve a supply chain that moves as fast as they do. Nox Metals is building it, along with the tools that run it. We’re a technology company with operations in Metro Detroit and Los Angeles, supplying aluminum plate, bar, and rounds to aerospace and defense manufacturers. We use software and automation to supply metal to American factories faster than the industry thought possible.

The role. We’re hiring a Chief of Staff to help the CEO and leadership team turn the company’s most important priorities into action. You will create clarity, drive cross-functional work, improve the operating cadence, and take ownership of problems that do not fit neatly inside one department.

This is not a spectator or note-taking role. You will investigate, recommend, decide where authorized, and follow through until the work is done.

You will:

· Translate company priorities into clear plans, owners, metrics, and follow-up

· Lead high-priority projects across operations, sales, finance, people, and engineering

· Prepare decision memos, analyses, and leadership materials

· Build and run effective leadership meetings and operating reviews

· Identify unresolved risks, dependencies, and decisions before they become emergencies

· Conduct research and turn incomplete information into a clear recommendation

· Improve communication and accountability across the company

· Track company performance and help leaders focus on the most important constraints

· Represent the CEO in selected meetings and ensure commitments are carried through

· Handle sensitive information with exceptional judgment

You are:

· An unusually clear thinker and writer

· Comfortable taking ownership of ambiguous, high-stakes work

· Analytical enough to challenge assumptions and practical enough to execute

· Direct, tactful, and able to build trust across functions

· Highly organized without becoming bureaucratic

· Low ego and willing to do both strategic and unglamorous work

· Steady under pressure and careful with confidential information

· Energized by a fast-moving industrial business

Nice to have:

· Experience in operations, finance, strategy, consulting, or a founder’s office

· Experience in manufacturing, logistics, defense, or supply chain

· Experience building operating cadences and executive-level reporting

· Comfort using AI tools to research, analyze, and communicate faster

Benefits:

· Equity in Nox Metals

· Company-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance

This role is full time, in person in Los Angeles.

Nox Metals is an equal opportunity employer. We hire based on skill, attitude, and fit for the work, and we do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, height, weight, marital status, or any other protected status under federal, state, or local law.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
