Centralized Services Engineer

We are seeking a Centralized Services Engineer to support and enhance client environments through proactive monitoring, automation, documentation, and process standardization. This role plays a key part in maintaining operational excellence across our Managed Services client base.

Job Summary

The Centralized Services Engineer is responsible for supporting remote monitoring platforms, enforcing change management standards, maintaining cybersecurity posture, and ensuring infrastructure reliability across multiple client environments.

This role acts as an escalation point between Service Desk and Senior Engineering teams and requires strong communication skills to interface directly with Managed Services clients when needed.

Key Responsibilities

Remote Monitoring & Managed Services

  • Support and maintain remote monitoring and management platforms across client environments
  • Administer endpoint and network monitoring tools
  • Support Endpoint Detection & Response (EDR) and Mobile Device Management (MDM) platforms
  • Manage Backup as a Service solutions, including verification and test restores
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client documentation and IT process standards

Security & Firewall Management

  • Configure and troubleshoot firewalls and switches (Palo Alto and Fortinet preferred)
  • Monitor security advisories and implement improvements based on cybersecurity best practices
  • Maintain vulnerability management and security posture across client systems

Patch & Change Management

  • Execute and verify server and workstation patching routines
  • Enforce structured change control for firewalls, Microsoft 365, and network infrastructure
  • Maintain system reliability through proactive monitoring and remediation

Scripting & Automation

  • Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate maintenance tasks
  • Support RMM tool deployment and configuration across environments
  • Contribute to automation initiatives to improve efficiency and consistency

Process Improvement & Documentation

  • Identify opportunities to improve infrastructure reliability and documentation standards
  • Maintain SOPs and internal documentation for Centralized IT Services processes

Qualifications

  • Experience working in a Managed Services Provider (MSP) environment
  • Strong experience with RMM, PSA, and related MSP tools
  • Experience supporting Windows, macOS, and Linux environments
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace administration
  • Experience with hypervisors including VMware, Hyper-V, or Proxmox
  • Familiarity with enterprise storage and NAS systems
  • Experience with IdP/SSO solutions (Okta, Microsoft Entra preferred)
  • Understanding of SAML, OAuth, OIDC, and related authentication protocols
  • Strong written and verbal client communication skills

Work Environment

This is a remote position based in the United States or Canada. Occasional travel may be required based on business needs.
