Our client, a world leader in biotechnology and gene therapy, is looking for an “Category Management Analyst based out of Foster City, CA(Hybrid).

 

Job Duration: Long Term Contract (Possibility Of Extension)

Pay Rate : $50/hr on W2

Seeking a Category Management Analyst to support procurement strategy and sourcing activities across Research & Product Development categories, including research services, CROs, chemicals, reagents, lab supplies, and laboratory equipment. This role will partner with Category Managers to analyze spend data, generate market insights, support supplier management, and drive sourcing initiatives that optimize cost, quality, service, and operational efficiency.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze spend data, supplier performance, and market trends to support category strategies.
  • Develop category profiles, supplier segmentation, and sourcing recommendations.
  • Support sourcing events (RFPs, RFIs, negotiations) and track project execution.
  • Maintain supplier data, contracts, performance metrics, and procurement dashboards.
  • Partner with Category Managers, scientists, lab operations, and finance teams to support procurement initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities for supplier consolidation, cost optimization, and process improvements.
  • Drive procurement best practices, catalog enablement, SOPs, and continuous improvement initiatives.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Life Sciences, or a related field.
  • 3–6 years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, supply chain, or procurement analytics.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience using Excel, Power BI, or similar data analysis tools.
  • Experience working with large datasets, spend analysis, and supplier performance metrics.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and organizational skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life sciences, or laboratory procurement.
  • Knowledge of CRO/research services sourcing, laboratory consumables, chemicals, reagents, or scientific equipment.
  • Familiarity with supplier management, category management, and strategic sourcing processes.
