Clocktower Group is an alternative asset management and advisory firm based in Santa Monica, California, with a presence in London and Shanghai. Our top-down macro framework and relationship-based investing approach inform our strategies and drive the way we do business. In public markets, we seed macro-oriented managers and manage an Asian equity platform. In private markets, we invest in fintech disrupters. We also provide global macro research and advisory services.
Clocktower Ventures
Clocktower Ventures, the venture investing arm within Clocktower Group, partners with phenomenal entrepreneurs who have the vision and drive to innovate across all verticals of financial services. Our stage-agnostic approach offers investment exposure from the earliest stages of company formation all the way to late-stage growth underwriting. The model empowers investors to source and evaluate actionable opportunities across a wide latitude of sectors and stages.
We're seeking a Capital Formation professional to join Clocktower Ventures' small, entrepreneurial, and intensely collaborative team and own the operating engine behind our fundraising and LP engagement. You understand how fundraising works end to end and can run it independently: building the systems, keeping our CRM and investor lists tight, tracking every touchpoint, and driving next steps with LPs and prospects so nothing slips through the cracks. You'll work closely with the Partner and team, becoming a go-to expert on marketing our funds and strategy. The role is based in our Santa Monica office.
What you’ll do:
  • Fundraising Process Ownership. Run the day-to-day mechanics of our fundraising and LP servicing processes, from first outreach through diligence, closing, and ongoing reporting. Know where every investor stands and what the next step is.
  • Due Diligence & Data Room. Own the DDQ and data room process, keeping our materials current, organized, and investor-ready, working with the investment, operations, legal, and compliance teams to refresh content as things change. Manage data room access and use activity tracking to inform follow-up.
  • CRM, Lists & Pipeline Management. Own our CRM as the single source of truth. Build and maintain investor lists, target pipelines, and trackers so information is clean, current, and actionable.
  • Documentation & Closing. Track NDAs, side letter requests, and subscription documents through to close, and coordinate with our operations team on LP onboarding, capital calls, and reporting.
  • Meeting & Marketing Coordination. Coordinate investor meetings and roadshows from planning through follow-up, and help raise Clocktower Ventures' profile through our website, PR, speaking slots, and curated events that build new relationships and deepen existing ones.
  • Materials & Communications. Draft, edit, and polish quarterly LP letters, investor updates, pitch decks, and marketing materials with precision and attention to detail.
  • Systems Building & Project Management. Design, implement, and continuously improve the workflows, templates, and tools that make our marketing and fundraising function scale. Track deadlines, coordinate cross-team deliverables, and surface bottlenecks early to keep projects on track.
  • Collaboration. Work closely with the Partner, the VC team, and colleagues across operations, marketing, and management to align and execute.

Requirements:
  • Relevant experience. 2+ years of fundraising, fund marketing, capital formation, or investor relations experience at a private equity, venture capital, or other alternative investment firm. You know the landscape and have hands-on experience running LP processes.
  • Self-starter with a track record of execution. You're comfortable taking the lead and moving work forward independently, and you consistently deliver on time and at a high standard.
  • Systems builder with real follow-through. You thrive on structure, systems, and efficiency. You build the processes others rely on, manage multiple priorities at once, and see things through to completion.
  • Intellectual curiosity. You are eager to dive into venture capital, startups, and investing, and you’re motivated to learn the “why” behind the work.
  • Excellent communicator. Comfortable drafting, editing, and presenting high-stakes documents and materials.
  • Relationship builder. Strong interpersonal skills and a genuine interest in connecting with people — colleagues, LPs, founders, and partners.
  • CRM and systems mastery. Expert-level CRM user (Affinity, Salesforce, DealCloud, or similar) and highly proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. You know how to build and maintain clean lists, trackers, and databases, and you know how to architect workflows and automations that are intuitive for others to use, earn team-wide adoption, and scale as we grow.
  • Education. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; what matters most is your ability to demonstrate excellence in the skills above.
  • Location. Based in Santa Monica, CA, or willing and able to relocate.

What you’ll get:
  • All the resources you’ll need to learn and grow.
  • Independence to run with your ideas.
  • Joining an elite team that works with some of the most sophisticated investors and entrepreneurs in the world.
  • Generous benefit programs, including options for health, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, 401(k) plan (with matching), and flexible vacation.
  • Delicious, healthy lunches and snacks.
  • Beautiful office space with amazing ocean views.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
