Position Overview:

* REQUIRES IN OFFICE 2 DAYS A WEEK IN SACRAMENTO
A senior technical leader who architects, engineers, and delivers complex, enterprise-level data product ecosystems. This role translates highly ambiguous business needs into robust full-stack technical solutions, owning the system architecture, performance strategy, and mentoring a team of engineers to elevate the engineering maturity of the department.
An expert in the full BI stack—from database optimization to application UX architecture—and is responsible for solving the most complex, ambiguous problems that span multiple systems. This role acts as a primary technical advisor to leadership and formally mentors other engineers.
*This position is hybrid (work-from-home eligible on some days and on-site on other days). California residents only.

Job Description:

EDUCATION:

Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE:

  • Epic Cogito Certification within one year of start date.
  • Multiple tool-specific certification within one year of start date

TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:

  • 5 years of progressive, hands-on experience in BI Engineering, Data Product Development, or Full Stack Analytics.
  • Experience architecting and designing new, complex data solutions and data marts from scratch.
  • Experience translating ambiguous business requirements into robust technical solutions.
  • Experience formally mentoring other engineers.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Expert-level, full-stack skills (Expert SQL, ETL, Data Modeling, Application Design) in a hybrid environment.
  • Expert proficiency in both Tableau and Power BI.
  • Expert-level SQL skills, including advanced performance tuning and database optimization.
  • Expert in the full MS BI Stack (SSIS, SSAS, SSRS, Power BI) and Tableau architecture.
  • Expert in data modeling (Star Schema, Snowflake) and data warehouse architecture.
  • Deep knowledge of ALM, CI/CD, and DevOps for Analytics.
  • Ability to solve complex, ambiguous problems with minimal guidance.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.

Pay Range is $129,188.80 to $193,793.60 / annual salary

The compensation range may vary based on the geographic location where the position is filled. Total compensation considers multiple factors, including, but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, departmental equity, training, and organizational needs. Base pay is only one component of Sutter Health’s comprehensive total rewards program. Eligible positions also include a comprehensive benefits package.
