An American icon, Fender was born in Southern California and has built a worldwide influence extending beyond the studio and the stage. A Fender is more than an instrument, it’s a cultural symbol that resonates globally.

We are searching for a Business Development Manager based remotely within an assigned territory. This territory-aligned commercial leadership role owns sales strategy, budget, and performance across the full FMIC brand portfolio: Fender, Squier, Jackson, Charvel, EVH, Gretsch, and Bigsby. This role reports to the Manager, Regional Sales.
The ideal candidate will be located in either the Atlanta, GA or northern FL area.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop and execute territory strategy and account plans that grow revenue, expand distribution, and strengthen FMIC’s position.
  • Manage the dealer order book for core products and new product introductions, balancing assortment, sell-in, and sell-through.
  • Make data-driven sales decisions, forecast demand, and manage dealer inventory and credit health in partnership with Finance and Credit.
  • Build and grow long-term dealer relationships as the strategic commercial contact, through regular in-person visits and phone, video, and electronic communication.
  • Partner with aligned Dealer Experience Representatives, providing direction and account context and acting on the insights, opportunities, and risks they surface.
  • Drive dealer marketing and program adoption, and support in-store events, demos, clinics, trade shows, and regional events.
  • Collaborate with Sales Operations, Finance, Credit, Supply Chain, Product, and Marketing to deliver seamless order processing, fulfillment, and dealer program execution.
  • Maintain accurate, timely CRM records of accounts, plans, pipeline, and opportunities.
  • Attend required sales meetings, territory reviews, product training, conferences, and industry events, continuously building product and brand expertise.
  • Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • 3–5 years of sales and territory management experience with a record of achieving sales targets; music industry or musical-instrument experience is a strong asset.
  • Excellent sales, prospecting, and negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge of finance, inventory management, credit, and forecasting, with strong analytical skills to make data-based recommendations.
  • CRM experience required; SAP and Microsoft Excel experience preferred.
  • Strong time management, planning, and prioritization skills; able to thrive both independently and as part of a coordinated team.
  • Professional, effective communication at all levels with FMIC dealers and partners, and a passion for the Fender brand and FMIC portfolio.
  • 60%+ travel within the territory, plus occasional travel for regional sales meetings, trade shows, and meetings at FMIC’s Hollywood or Phoenix offices; clean driving record required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
