WHY JOIN ALO?

Mindful movement. It’s at the core of why we do what we do at Alo—it’s our calling. Because mindful movement in the studio leads to better living. It changes who yogis are off the mat, making their lives and their communities better. That’s the real meaning of studio-to-street: taking the consciousness from practice on the mat and putting it into practice in life.

OVERVIEW

This position will support Alo’s brand protection strategy with a focus on identifying, removing, and seizing counterfeit and unauthorized products across all global markets. This work will be done in partnership with domestic and global vendors and will manage brand protection efforts at retail stores, manufacturing sites, and online platforms.  The role will also assist legal counsel in the prosecution of related civil and criminal matters, where applicable.

This is a hybrid role based in the Los Angeles area.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Execute global Brand Protection Strategy as part of Alo’s legal team, reporting into the Director of Intellectual Property.
  • Lead Alo’s Brand Protection efforts by collaborating with senior internal stakeholders and cross-functional experts in Legal, Manufacturing, Supply, Product and Sales to support anti-counterfeiting efforts and related enforcement efforts.
  • Develop and implement data-driven strategies for brand enforcement including recommending innovative solutions to achieve the Company’s brand protection goals.
  • Manage strategic relationships with customs authorities, police agents, and online marketplaces around the world to facilitate successful risk analysis and enforcement.
  • Take the lead in monitoring and responding to the unauthorized resale of Alo products on third party marketplaces including conducting investigations and escalating as needed.
  • Assess the credibility of market leaders within the space to ensure Alo continues to partner with the top technology providers for enhanced security measures and effective collaboration.
  • Represent Alo by attending relevant IP enforcement meetings, conventions, industry association meetings, and training programs to enhance product intelligence and build strong relationships with external contacts.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for all global and internal Customer Service departments regarding counterfeit products or suspicious online activity.
  • Develop and deliver ongoing anti-counterfeiting educational and training seminars for internal stakeholders, and when appropriate, for agents, law enforcement, and other agencies.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years in a full-time role dedicated to anti-counterfeiting enforcement and brand protection.
  • Proficient understanding of civil and criminal law related to intellectual property including trademark strategy, prosecution and use requirements.
  • Experience collaborating effectively with law enforcement agencies, customs, investigators, agencies, and law firms.
  • Sensitivity to and practical knowledge of working with individuals from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Willingness to take initiative.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
